Colin and Lucy smiled devilishly, they were holding hands, and in each unheld hand glittered a silver dagger. They moved with lightning speed right in front of him. Cornered, by two people he loved. Kind of ironic that he'd die like this. As if on cue, they both moved the silver daggers to each side of his heart. Blood dropped where the blades touched his bare skin. He looked to Colin, and saw his face was blank, Colin was gone. As was Lucy. The blades pushed in deeper.. And pain began to evade his body.. Haymitch awoke with a start. Bed sheets drenched with sweat surrounded him. He gulped in air, trying to reassure himself that he was alive and the ones he loved were well and hadnt just murdered him. He tried to wretch, but painfully rendered the events of the night before, he didnt have anything left in his stomach. What sickened him, was that he remembered the exact way Maysilee's lips fit with his, the way her silky hair had felt beneath his fingertips, the way he'd been so sure she was Lucy. He pushed the thoughts away, and remembered what day it was, of course today he would be interviewed, and then forced into the hunger games. He took a deep breathe before swinging out of bed, and changing into his training clothes. As he marched down the steps he thought of his mother though he tried not to, thought of how he'd treated her. In a way they'd both neglected each other. And Colin, with the busy brother and the absent mother. How had he felt in those terrible months after their father died? Haymitch put a hand to his cheek, feeling the cool slick of tears. He brushed them away. He took the elevator down to the training room, and noticed all the tributes were already there. A beautiful raven haired girl cried in the corner. Haymitch caught a glimpse of her, and saw her hands were shaking. The girl was quiet until she saw Haymitch looking at her. The girl looked about fifteen, but the voice that came out of her mouth sounded wise and strong,'Panems ways need to change, the Capitol is cruel and destructive, they will stop at nothing to stay in power' she said. Haymitch gasped and so did many others in the room. Peace Keepers seemed to surge from all directions. Grabbing her forcefully, and taping her mouth shut. She screamed, but no one moved. Except Maysilee, she came from the back of the crowd and said 'is this really necessary? She was just talking-' but Maysilee was interrupted by Zale, their mentor, he too, seemed to appear suddenly and grab her arm. Haymitch could just hear Zale murmur 'if you know what's good for you, you'll shut up.' The girl in the corner was being hauled away now, she twisted in the clutches of the peace keepers, but was held tight. 'What happened?!' Haymitch asked Zale quietly. Zale sighed dramatically 'she tried to escape last night, but as you know, almost all exits are surrounded by peace keepers. She was caught, found dangling from her bed room window, stupid girl' their mentor whispered, while smirking. Training was quick that day, Haymitch practised camaflouge quietly, and before he knew it, he was about to be interviewed. His hair had been spiked, and he wore a dark, coal miners outfit, he felt like a fool. As Haymitch stepped out onto the stage, he saw a young man, Caesar flicker man, he'd been told, was the new interviewer. Haymitch quickly made his way to the plush, Red seating, and sat in the chair that was unoccupied. Zale had instructed him to smile, so he did, but it felt very fake. The crowd erupted into an applause, and it was all Haymitch could do, not to raise his middle finger. Caesar smiled brilliantly beside him 'so Haymitch, how does it feel to know that you could walk out of those hunger games, into your darling Lucy's arms!?' Caesar smiled, his hair was a mess of pink and blue stripes. Haymitch sighed 'it doesn't feel good Caesar I know it won't happen' Haymitch replied, trying to look sad. Zale had told him to be a young Capitol loving boy, but why couldn't he be sad, fearful, childish? Caesar nodded sadly 'Well you never know Haymitch'. Haymitch gulped angrily, he felt his hands clench into fists, and suddenly he was standing up. 'You- Monsters-' he screamed. Caesar looked astonished, and soon Haymitch felt himself being pulled off the stage by Peace Keepers. The room was so silent, except for Haymitch's shouts of anger. He yelled terrible things, and could hear people murmuring in the crowd- oh well he didn't care. He was so tired of these foolish Capitol people.
