~Chase's POV~
"This is where ya'll are going to stay," Caitlin said as she walked into the large room, "there's another room connected to this one, so you guys can pick who stays where." She abruptly turned and started heading to the door. Before she had a chance to reach for the door handle I quickly reached out and placed a hand on her shoulder to stop her from leaving. Caitlin turned around with a confused look on her face.
"Thanks" I said as I took my hand off her shoulder, "No problem." She turned to the door again and opened it but stopped on last time and turned to face Cameron and me. "By the way my room is three doors down and Cassidy's is across the hall, Good night." She quickly closed the door before I had a chance to say anything else. I turned to Cameron and he just shrugged his shoulders and went back to unpacking his things. "I was just trying to say thanks," I said as I flopped down on the huge bed in the middle of the room, "she didn't have to give me such a weird look." Cameron just looked at me and laughed. "She's probably still not used to the fact that we're gonna be staying here."
He's probably right... but I'll never tell him that, he's already got too much of a big head about himself. I laid on the bed for awhile lost in my own thoughts until a soft knock on the door ripped me out of my daze. I slowly go off the bed and walked over to the door, opening it slowly. Cassidy's stood there in the hallway with a sweet smile on her face. "Hey, I just wanted to see if you guys needed anything before I went to bed?"
I looked back at Cameron for an answer and he just looked up and shook his head. "Nah," I said as I looked back at Cassidy, "I think we're good here but thanks for asking." Cassidy just nodded and turned to walk away, "wait," I called out before she closed her bedroom door, "can I ask you something?" Cassidy raised her eyebrow and gave me a weird look, "sure, what's up?" I quietly closed my door and walked across the hall to Cassidy.
"I was just wondering what was up with Caitlin," I shifted awkwardly as I spoke, "she just acts kind of weird around me, like she's uncomfortable." Cassidy's smile quickly disappeared after I was done speaking. "Well you did scare the hell out of her when you shot at her," She whispered loudly but only loud enough so nobody else was able to hear what was being said, "I can understand why she would act weird around you." I ran my fingers through my hair as Cassidy continued talking, "The least you could do is apologize to her," Cassidy made a face like she had just smelled something rotting, "and go take a shower, you smell like the dead." Cassidy then laughed and closed her bedroom door, I then went back into my room and found that Cameron had already unpacked all of his things and moved them into to room connecting to mine.
I stood there thinking about what Cassidy had said and she was right, I did need a shower. I walked over to the bathroom and turned on. As I waited for the water to heat up, I quickly stripped off my clothes and jumped in letting the hot water run down my body. I guess I had gotten sucked into my thoughts again because I didn't notice that the water had begun to run cold. I grabbed a towel from the counter and go out. After I dried myself off I walked back out into my room and through on a pair of boxers and an old band t-shirt.
I looked into the mirror that was hanging on the wall next to me and noticed that I had dark circles under my eyes. It would make sense though; I hadn't had a proper night's sleep since the outbreak happened. Cameron and I were always running, never being able to find a safe place to stay. Well, not until now at least. I turned away from my reflection and climbed into bed and fell into to best night sleep I'd in a long time.
*The next morning*
~Caitlin's POV~
I'm rudely awakened by the horrible sound of my alarm clock going off on the table next to my bed. I slowly rolled over and hit the clock until the noise stopped. Lazily I got out of bed and walked over to the bathroom. After a quick shower I changed my clothes I left my room and walked down to Cassidy's. I quietly opened the door to her room and find her sprawled out on her bed with her arm laying across her face squishing her cheek into her eye. I couldn't help but quietly laugh, Cassidy had always been an ugly sleeper.
