~Cassidy's POV~
"Cameron, for the love of God will you please stop leaving your shit everywhere!?" Caitlin screamed. I sighed loudly and glanced at the clock next to my bed, 7:30 A.M. "it's too early for this shit." I quietly said to myself as I lazily got out of bed. When I reached the living room I found a very angry Caitlin yelling at Cameron. "I'm so tired of finding your dirty clothes ALL OVER THE HOUSE!!" He just sat there and listened to Caitlin rant on about how he needs to stop taking his clothes off in random places and leaving them there.
When the yelling was finally over Caitlin threw all of Cameron's clothes at him and told him to put them in the laundry room where they belonged. I just laughed and walked into the kitchen and started breakfast which many consisted of toast and oranges, lots and lots of oranges. "Remind me again why we have so many oranges?" I turned to see Caitlin walking into the kitchen. "I really don't have an answer for that," I slightly laughed while glancing at the massive mound of oranges sitting on the counter, "but I'm starting to get sick of them."
Caitlin quietly laughed and grabbed the truck keys from the table, "well, I guess I'm going on a run today." I quickly grabbed the keys from her before she had a chance to leave. "I don't think so, you my friend are still injured so you're staying here." Caitlin opened her mouth like she was going to say something, "I don't want any ifs, ands, or buts about it, you need to rest." Caitlin narrowed her eyes at me and I glared back. After the five minute stare down Caitlin finally gave up. "Fine!" Caitlin huffed in defeat, "I'll stay here." I smiled triumphantly and went back to making breakfast. "You're taking Cameron with you!" I heard Caitlin yell from upstairs.
~Time skip~ (Still Cassidy's POV)
Cameron and I walked up to the front entrance of the grocery store and pulled on the doors only to find them locked from the inside. "We can probably smash the glass in." I turned to look at him, "How about we don't," I said while rolling my eyes," I don't want to set an alarm off." Cameron just huffed in annoyance. I turned and started to walk away, "Let's try around back, there is probably a way in." He nodded in agreement and followed close behind. We both walked up to one of the loading docks and tried to open the garage door but it wouldn't budge. "Maybe there's another store we can go to?" Cameron asked uncertainly. "The only other store is an hour's drive from here and we need to get back before dark." Cameron remanded quiet for a little before he suddenly perked up, "We can stop by the gas station we passed on the way here! They probably still have stuff there!" I shrugged my shoulders in agreement and began walking back to the truck.
~ back at the house~ (Caitlin's POV)
"Ugh" I sighed loudly as I threw myself facedown onto my bed. "Why the loud sighs?" I heard Chase ask from the doorway. "I was going to go on a run today but Cassidy made me stay here because she says I need to rest." I said casually, only it came out a little bit more muffled considering my face was still smashed into my bed. "Well she is right ya' know?" Chase said as he walked over to me, "you seem to forget you got pretty beat up on you last run." I sat up and faced him, "well Cassidy got beat up too!" I shouted while narrowing my eyes. "Yes, that is true but she didn't end up with two broken ribs and a fractured shoulder blade, now did she?" I continued to glare at Chase. "Why does it matter anyways?" You could almost hear the curiosity dripping from Chase's mouth as he spoke. "I don't see how that is any of your business." I said while crossed my legs and turned away. I heard Chase mumble something along the lines of 'you're so stubborn' before he got up and started making his way to the door. "Cassidy's going to be fine, she's got Cam with her." Chase said as he closed the door leaving me alone in my room. 'Like that's supposed to make me feel better.' I thought to myself as I laid back down on my bed.
(Camerons's POV)
"Do you remember where the gas station was?" I glanced over at Cassidy as I spoke. "Yeah, it's just up ahead," Cassidy said as she pointed out the window, "but you need to take a right up here." After about a 5 minute drive down a dirt road we pulled into a rundown gas station. "Pull the car around back." I parked the car behind the station and started pulling out guns from the backseat. I handed Cassidy an m16 and grabbed an AR-15 for myself.
We made sure both of our guns were fully loaded and got out the car. "Okay only grab the items we truly need. Nothing else, okay?" I nodded to show that I understood and began to walk to the back door. After about 10 minutes of forcefully pulling on the back door I was finally able to get it open. Once inside Cassidy and I went down separate isles and started grabbing everything we needed. I quietly began to laugh to myself, "Hey Cassidy," I said smugly as I lifted a box from the shelf, "do we need these?" Cassidy looked up from what she was looking at and glanced at the box. Her seemingly innocent look began to change into an unamused glare once she realized what I was holding.
I just started laughing but then was hit by a flying box of crackers that Cassidy had thrown across the store. "God, you're such a pig!" Cassidy huffed and went back to looking around the store. I just chuckled to myself and walked down the small isles and started to grab anything that had expired, which manly consisted of overly processed crackers, any canned food I could find, and surprisingly pop tarts. After about twenty minutes of looking around the store for more things to grab I gave up and started to make my way toward Cassidy. But before I could get to her I heard a gun go off and the glass door next to me shattered.
Luckily I was able to get behind a shelf before I got myself shot. From where I was I could see Cassidy crouched down behind a table with cans stacked on top of it. Before I had the chance to crawl over to her the front door opened and multiple people walked in. "Well looky who we have here." My heart dropped into my stomach as the man spoke. I couldn't believe that this was happening, and by the look on Cassidy's face she was thinking the same thing. "Did ya'll really think you could get away from us?" You could almost hear the smug smile forming on the man's face as he spoke. I heard footsteps behind me start going down different isles and knocking stuff off the shelves.
I took this opportunity and quickly rushed over to Cassidy using the noise the guy was making to cover my footsteps. "What are we going to do!?" Cassidy franticly whispered to me. But before I had the chance to answer two hands reached down from above the table and grabbed Cassidy. I jumped up to attack the guy holding her but was pulled back by two massive arms and put into a headlock. "LET GO OF ME!" Cassidy screamed and thrashed around, kicking anything she came into contact with. While she was kicking her legs blindly she managed to land one on the guy holding her. He dropped to the ground grabbing his crotch and doubling over in pain.
Cassidy quickly took the chance and made a run for the back door leaving me behind. To be honest I wasn't at all mad or upset that she was leaving me. It was better me than her. But just as she was about to grab the doorknob she was cloths lined and pinned to the ground. I frantically started clawing at the guy's arms that were holding me in place. "Put her in the truck." The guy holding Cassidy to the floor pulled a gun out of his back pocket and hit her once in the head with the butt of it. I watched, powerless as her limp body was dragged out of the store and put into the back of the truck.
The man standing at the door chuckled quietly and started walking over to me. "Tell your friends we say hello." He smugly said before he turned around and walking out of the store. I tried yelling out to him but my voice was cut off when the arm around my neck tightened suddenly. My vision started to become blurry from the lack of oxygen I was getting and soon everything went black.
