Emilia's POV
"The young warlock." spoke the Great Dragon, not acknowledging the fact that he had scared the living daylights out of us.
"No doubt you're here about the Druid boy. Ah, and you've brought along a guest." He spoke once more
"Yes, her name is Emilia. She's a sorceress."
"No need to tell me," The dragon started in a knowing tone. "I know who the girl is. You too have a great destiny."
This statement made me speak up. "How do you know of me? I am but a nobody."
"A nobody you are not for you are this great warlock's sister and the land of Albion will one day look to you." he chuckled as though this was something I should have known. 'Brother' I thought to myself ignoring all the rest for the moment. "Brother?" I questioned. "I am an only child."
"That you are not my dear child. The two of you were separated at birth so that you could one day meet again when Albion most needed you two." I froze as I realized my entire life was a lie, my mother, my father... everything. I looked to my left to face Merlin to see him already staring at me.
He seemed to be debating something internally until he finally spoke. "It makes sense, I've never met another who was born with the same abilities." He said this more to himself than to me. I stared at the ground for several moments taking this in before looking up again.
Remembering that this was not the reason that we had come down here, I faced the dragon Kilgharrah once more.
"How did you know? About the boy I mean." I desperately wanted to speak of something else at the moment. I wanted to avoid the fact that my entire life has been falsely told. That I had a twin brother that I never got to know.
"Like you, I hear him speak."
"Why does he call us by different names?" asked Merlin, joining the conversation once more.
"Because that is your name." the dragon answered, which only confused the two of us more.
"I'm pretty sure my name's Merlin, always has been." he replied quite blatantly.
"You have many names."
"Do I? How does the boy know who I am? I've never even met any Druids."
"There is much written about the two of you that you have yet to read. You should not protect this boy. I know it may be hard for you to do so Emilia for you and this boy share a natural bond but you must fight it."
"Why? He has magic. He's like us" I answered quickly, getting defensive over the boy I've come to care for.
"You and the boy are as different as day and night."
"What do you mean?"
"Heed my words" This answer did not please me. It wasn't even an answer at all and I was not about to let an innocent child die at my hands.
"Why should I not protect him?" Merlin shouted as the dragon began to fly away.'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''
The next morning I decided to stay in. I needed time to think, to process everything. I ate silently with Gaius and then went down to get water for him at the well.
As I made my way out of the castle I found myself lost in thought and I accidentally slammed into another causing me to drop the bucket in my hands as i fell on my backside.
"I am so sorry, I should have been watching where I was going." I spoke apologetically before I looked up and noticed it was the prince before me. He had his hand held out towards me but I couldn't move. I was frozen in place, nervous because I feared getting caught even though he had no reason to suspect me at the current moment.
"It's a hand, I believe you are meant to take it." He stated sarcastically with an amused smile on his face.
"Right." I responded before accepting his hand and standing up. "Thank you, sire."
He only chuckled and said "Just call me Arthur, really, no need for formalities at the moment." He was strikingly handsome, it was impossible to ignore that fact. I had thought so before but seeing him so close I realized it even more so. He had unbelievably light blue eyes and blond hair that nearly reached his eyes, and there was no ignoring how attractive his smile was either.
"I'm uh, Emilia." I stated nervously placing my hand out for him to shake. I removed my hand almost immediately though as I realized that royalty probably don't shake hands with commoners as a means of introduction.
"You must be new around here as I have yet to see you before. Are you staying here in the castle?" he questioned.
"Yes, I arrived here only several days ago. I have been staying with Gaius the cou-"
"The court physician" he smiled, still obviously amused by how foolish I was acting. "So you must know Merlin then, my servant."
"Yes, he has been very kind to me." I answered not sure if I should introduce myself as his sister yet seeing as though I only just found out myself.
"Well it was nice meeting you Emilia," He began as he handed me the bucket I had dropped earlier. "I hope to see you around." I nodded in agreement before turning the other direction. "Oh," The prince started once more, causing me to turn back. "would you mind telling Merlin that I have been looking for him?" He asked me. "Of course." I answered shortly before turning for the final time and heading to my original destination.
