Tris's POV
I flop onto my bed and imeadiatly fall asleep. I dream of Christina drowning in her make up, screaming as pink puffs of powder suffocate her. Then I wake up to Caleb tripping over something and falling down the stairs. I groan, first day of school. Yay.
Tobias, Christina, Caleb and I go to CFH, Central Faction High. We have five different classes and lunch. First one is Amity, which rotates between art, music, manners, kindness, that stuff. Next is Erudite, the normal stuff, math, science, launguage arts, bla bla bla. Then abnegation, is all about helping others. Candor is about not lying, no bullying, that kind of stuff. Then my favorite class, Dauntless, extreme gym class, which is modeled after the elite sports school.
I get up and get dressed in black jean shorts and a black shirt that has orange flames stitched into it. I pop a waffle into the toaster and apply a thin layer of makeup, that Chris smuggled into the house. My parents don't approve, so it's secret. I brush my hair out and braid it like Katniss, my favorite book is the Hunger Games.
"Morning Bea." Caleb jingles the car keys.
"It's Tris." I sigh. "You ever going to realize that?" I joked.
"No," Caleb says bluntly. "Get in the car, Beatrice."
I grab my waffle and hop in to his red car, sorry ours, we share. Caleb's driving, he turns Taylor Swift up, blasting out Back to December.
"Swiftie?" I raise my eyebrow at Caleb.
"Directioner." He blushes furiously. I howl with laughter, until we arrive at CFH and Tobias opens my door and gives me a bear hug.
Then he looks at Caleb. "Swiftie?" He asks.
Caleb glares at me. Tobias laughs, and grabs me off.
"Hey what?" I ask. He's pulling me away from my locker. Tobias leads me to a different part of the school. Them I see Christina at her locker, putting up a pocket mirror.
"Oh I don't-" I protest, but Christina hears me, and turns around.
"Ok, I don't know what's going on between you, but you are best friends. Fix it." Tobias says angrily. He looks between us. I have a silent conversation with Christina, her eyes are soft and pleading. But then I smile.
"Okay." We both say.
"I know I was such an idiot! I should have never said that-" Christina sobs.
"It's okay." I smile.
"What was it that you were arguing about?" Tobias asks nonchalantly, though i know it was bothering him.
"Girl stuff." Christina says mysteriously. I laugh and then I launch into the story about Christina drowning in makeup. We all laugh, and both of them accompany me to my locker.
It seems so good.
Then I glance at Tobias.
Almost so good.
Christina's POV
The summer grass tickles my fingers as I run them though, and, well relax and get my last weeks of tanning in, before it drops to the fifties. Tobias is spending time with his friend Zeke, and Tris said she doesn't feel up to hanging out. I stare blankly at the trees that block the view from the bike path behind my house. But then I hear a voice I recognize filtering though the trees. The sound of two pairs of shoes crunching dirt comes closer, and I can hear a conversation.
"Zeke, I don't like Lauren." It's Tobias. I inch closer.
"Who then?" Zeke asks.
"I can't-" Tobias pauses.
"I will set Lauren and you on a date." Zeke stops waking. "C'mon I'm doing you a favor!"
"No!" Tobias sounds panicky. "I mean, it's the first day of school, and I like someone else-"
"Who?" Zeke interrupts in a mischievous voice.
"Zeke I!" Tobias fumbles for an excuse.
"Sunday." And they walk on.
I sit, shocked, thinking of Tris and my own crush.
*Page Break*
"Please?" I ask over the phone. "Come on Tris!"
"I don't think mom will be happy . . . I don't really like bowling . . ." Tris says over the phone, trying to convince herself.
"Bullcrap." I roll my eyes. "You love it."
"Fine. I'll bring my money and smuggle the keys past my dad, and-." Tris says.
"Yeah, yeah, I'll help make your illegal passport; oh, Tris stop being such a spoil sport, I'll pick you up." I sighed, and jogged to the garage. I drive to the bowling alley, and a half hour later we're neck in neck, as the disco ball flashes over everyone.
"Look at this!" I grin, and point up to the screen, a red strike glowing. She grits her teeth, and rolls. One pin left standing. She curses silently. I grin, victorious, and go to get ball. My hand brushed the soft one of the people in the next lane. I look up into dark blue eye.
"Tobias?" I breathe. His eyes widen and he stiffened. I stumble, and turn around. "I- uh." I run back to Tris, my face pink.
"Tris." I point Tobias out to her.
"Wha." Tris turns around. "Oh." We watch as they finish their game. "They" is Tobias and the figure of a girl. It's Lauren. This must have been Zeke's plan.
Lauren hugs Tobias when they end. Then she goes up on her toes and tentatively kisses him on the lips. He stands there, stiffly as she pulls away.
"Goodbye Toby." Lauren pecks his cheek, then skips away. We stand there, staring. Then Tris goes up to him, wide eyed, noses almost touching.
"Tris." Tobias pleads. Then she pushes him. It's not hard, but the sentiment in it says everything.
"I though- yesterday, maybe you meant something." Tris says. Anger flashes in her eyes, and she turns around to leave. Tobias runs after her, and a sob escapes him as she runs out the door. Great. My crush has managed to break his best friends hearts and probably loose one. My heart breaks at the image of Lauren's lips against Tobias.
Cliff hanger! Muahaha, don't worry, eventual Fourtris. Yes, fourtris, not Tribias. Tobias will get the nickname of four in my fanfic:) not as you might expect. Please review and follow. Sorry that they're short, next one will be longer.
