Love, Life ,Death...and Blood: Chapter 10

10:

SJM POV

            I can’t get her out of my head. I love her. I know I do, but she doesn’t know that I do. Sleep, hasn’t come to me in over a week, I’m going insane without her. But, I don’t know where to find her. She’s so far away, yet she’s right here with me.

            “SJM, you ok?”

            Heart walked in, carrying a tray of food in front of her.

            “I’m ok…” I replied with a sigh.

            “You’re a terrible liar, you always have been.” She sat down beside me.

            “I know, sorry.”

            She placed the tray of food on my desk, almost like she knew I wasn’t going to eat it. I didn’t plan to either.

            “What’s up solider?”

            “I can’t get her out of my head. I know her. I swear, but I can’t take the fact that I’m not sure who she is.”

            I pulled her picture out of my pocket, handing it to Heart. She observed it closely.

            “Alex…her name is Alex. She was one of my students a long time ago.”

            “Alex…she died didn’t she?”

            “Yes. She did.”

            “But, I saw her the other day, Heart.”

            “That’s impossible, SJM. She’s been dead for almost five years now.”

            “Over at the battlefield the other night. I swear I saw her. I swear I did. She has the same worried look in her eyes.”

            “SJM, you’re crazy.” She said punching my shoulder gently.

            “I’m not.”

            She smiled at me, walking away.

            “We’re heading out in a couple minutes.”

            “And you think I’m going?”

            “Yes. You are. It’s required for you to go. It’s a final test rookie. If you die, well I guess all that training was useless.”

            “Will I see her again?”

            “I doubt it.”

            “Oh…”

Ally POV

            I walked out into the garden with my coat wrapped around me tight. It was unseasonably cold. I felt his arms around me, holding me close to his chest.

            “Hello, love.”

            “Hey.”

            “How are you this lovely afternoon?”

            “A little feisty.” I said turning to him.

            “Oh really?”

            “Yes.”

I reached up, wrapping my arms around his neck, kissing him gently. He returned my kiss, but not as gently as I thought he would. It was rough, uncertain.

“Ace, are you ok?”       

“I’m scared Ally. Honestly, I’m scared.”

“Why?”

“They are coming for you Ally.”

“Who?”

“The vampires.”

“Vampires?”

My knees collapsed underneath me. I was scared. Death…has always been a fate for me. But, now it was coming for me again. And it was going to take Ace with it.

“Ally, love? Are you ok?”

Ace had taken me in his arms, cradling me to his chest. His laid his head on mine, trying to calm me down. He knew I was scared, he could tell. And now, I’m sitting here crying. Again. Just like I had so long ago.

The guy…what was his name? SJM? I met him before…I think.

“ACE! GET OUT OF HERE BRO!”

We both jumped to the sound of Chris’ voice. A motor also greeted us as he rode in on a motorcycle.

“They’re coming; we have to get Ally out of here.”

“Ace, I’m scared.”

“Ally, its ok love. Come, we have to leave now.”

He picked me up, running into the house, with Chris right behind him.

“Where are we going?”

“Far away from here.”

“Why?”

“I’ll explain later. Let’s go Ally.”

He grabbed a couple duffle bags from a closet, after putting me down. Chris walked into another room, coming back with a couple guns, knives, and some ammo. I was so confused and scared out of my mind.

“Ally, can you use a gun?”

“Uhh…”

Chris was holding a gun out to me, I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to take it or not.

“Well, it’s a good time to learn.”

He tossed it to me, showing me how to hold it in the process.

“You’re a natural, thank god.” He smiled at me for a moment, and then turned to Ace. “We ready?”

“Yeah, let’s go.”
