Chapter 8

River pov

As I walked up my driveway I saw 2 police cars waiting in the drive way.

I froze

Shit shit what do I do.

I keep walking forward. If I run I'll just get in more trouble.

I walk in the house and there stands two cops and Kyle. He's arguing with one of the cops.

"No you can't take her to jail. She's 16. I'm calling a lawyer." Kyle said

I just stood there looking.

"Sir I'm sorry but it's a different story that she took off from the school. So legally we can detain her for 24 hours and then you can come and get her if you have legal custody of her." He said.

By this time Kyle was looking at me pissed and upset because he knew he couldn't do anything and I really fucked up this time.

The cops started walking toward me and I started to back away

I'm not doing this.

"Please put your hands behind your back." The officer said to me.

He grabbed my arm and tried to cuff me as I slipped away. The other cop grabbed me and put me on the ground. That shit hurt. Fucking dick.

I could hear Kyle in the back yelling at me to stop.

I finally just let them cuff me. When they stood me up I looked at Kyle and he looked disappointed.

I looked at the ground and kept Walking.

The cops put me in the back of the car and buckled me in shutting the door.

The cops talked to Kyle for a minute then he got in the car.

He drove off in the direction of the police station.

"Can I ask you why you put up a fight?" The cop asked trying to make conversation

I didn't answer and ignored him. Fuck these guys.

I wasn't talking.

We pulled up to the police station and they did the finger prints and all that. After they did that they took me to lock up where I was gonna be for 24 hours.

They put me in there and I was in one of those white jumpsuits. I laid down on basically a concrete slab with 2 inches of padding.

I laid down and fell asleep.

When I woke up it was for someone giving me food. I just ignored them and fell back asleep again.

The second time I woke up it was the officer telling me Kyle was here to pick me up.

I changed back into my clothes and they took me out.

I walked  out and I saw Kyle. He looked at me with a blank expression. He looked tired and miserable.

I walked over to him and he gave me a hug. He held me for a minute then let go.

He walked toward the door and them out to the car.

I got in and buckled up. He drove off toward the house.

He stopped at mcdonalds and I got chicken nuggets.

It took us about 20 minutes to get home. And when we did I went to my room. I just wanted to sleep.
