A/N: Hey guys, Mynx reminded me it was Thursday lol. I've just finished being busy, so hopefully I'll actually remember to update now :)
Emily's POV
The next day, we didn't have to walk for very long before we ran into the next problem.
Math.
Now, math definitely wasn't one of my strong suits, so I wasn't going to be much help. Alastair declared that he would solve everything, what with his name meaning bright nobility and all. Jake backed down, saying he fell asleep in math class all the time. Asher had never learned that much math. He was too busy being tortured.
So, they only one I trusted was Tatum. But unfortunately, when you trusted Tatum with math, you also got her math jokes.
We were walking through a tunnel, because Alastair decided it would be a good idea. Immediately, the door had shut behind us. Asher ran back to it, only to find that it was locked. We were submerged in darkness. Our eyes didn't adjust, so we just kept walking.
"Ow!" Jake cried.
"Oh." Alastair muttered. "That was you?"
I didn't even want to know what he did. I felt someone take my hand, and knew it was Asher. "Are you okay?" I asked.
"Fine." He said nervously.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"Later."
We kept walking, and found a light, but it wasn't the end of the tunnel. The light was coming from behind a door.
Writing on the door, was a really complicated math problem.
"Don't worry. I'll solve it." Alastair declared.
I looked at the math problem closely, and realized it was a graph. My eyes widened, and I looked at Tatum. She just sighed, with a slight grin on her face. "I'll do algebra, I'll do trig, I'll even do statistics, but graphing is where I draw the line."
And so it begins.
I kept my mouth shut. Tatum and Alastair worked on the problem. Soon enough, they solved it, and the door opened. We walked through it, and it closed behind us, leaving us in the same predicament that the last door did.
The next door was a ways away. I could tell Asher was really nervous.
"Ah!" Jake yelled suddenly. My eyes adjusted a tiny bit, and I saw that he had tripped over a root.
That just so happened to be shaped like a square.
"Hmm." Tatum said, amused.
"Don't you dare." I warned.
"Looks like we found a square root."
I groaned. "I feel like this tunnel was created just so you could make math puns."
Tatum smirked, and we kept walking to the door. I saw that there was an obtuse triangle on it, and the problem was asking you to figure out the degree of one of the angles.
But the part I was most concerned about was the obtuse triangle.
Tatum looked at me with the biggest smile on her face. "Why is the obtuse triangle upset?" She wiggled her eyebrows.
I groaned. "Because it's never right."
I felt Asher's arm around me. "She'll get over it one day." He whispered.
"No," I chuckled. "She won't."
The next door was asking you to write the first ten digits of pi. I looked at my best friend with a pleading look in my eyes, but she just smiled.
"In my opinion-" Alastair started, but Tatum cut him off. I was so hoping he wouldn't say that.
"An opinion without 3.14 is just an onion." She said, without missing a beat.
"I swear to god." I groaned.
Tatum looked around at everyone's confused faces. "You'll understand." She turned back to the door. I turned to Asher, and buried my face in his chest.
"Make her stop." I whined. "She's been doing this since I met her." Asher chuckled, and kissed the top of my head. He wasn't afraid anymore.
A/N: This bitch and her math puns. Ugh. Anyway, I would like to thank Pinterest for the puns, because I definitely did not come up with them by myself. And Mynx, "Admit it, life would be so boring without me." See you on Tuesday.
