Asher's POV

I wanted to say she'd looked less murderous before, but she honestly hadn't. I was starting lose trust in that life protection thing, especially when my wife of more years that I could count was staring at me with her murder face on, except times ten.

"Hey, Em?" Tatum called. "Is Asher—"

"Nope!" I shouted. "She's gone all murdery on me."

"Yeah, Spence looks like he wants to snap my neck," she said nervously. When I looked over, Ryder, Jake, and Alastair were standing there in complete confusion. I shrugged, but didn't get to linger on that for long. Emily tackled me to the ground.

"Fuck, you're strong," I muttered.

"Yeah, you have nice muscles yourself," she noted. "It's a shame I have to kill you."

"Sweetheart, why exactly do you have to do that?" I asked nervously. She was sitting on my chest and her knees were pushing into my throat, so I couldn't exactly move. I had to muster up the strength to throw her off me.

"The only way I can get out of here is if you're dead," she growled, which made no sense. However, murderous Emily had some learning to, since she'd left my arms free. I grabbed her by the torso, and launched her forwards. She rolled into the base of a tree, which kind of make me feel bad, but it gave me enough time to get on my feet and run. I was always faster than her, so she'd never catch me. That being said, I didn't know what she was capable of. And I really didn't want to find out.

"I'm gonna get out of here," I called to her. "Are you coming?"

"Don't ask stupid questions," was all she said. Before I could run any further, something slammed into me, and I realized it was Tatum.

"I never thought me and Spence would get divorced, but after this we might have to," she said, out of breath. "Come on, let's get out of here."

I looked at Emily racing toward me, Spence right next to her, but they both slowed down, looking a little confused.

"On second thought..." Tatum trailed off. We both nodded, and bolted toward them.

Spence's POV

Was anyone actually a fan of running? I supposed I didn't exactly have a choice in the matter, since I was running from the love of my life who was currently trying to murder me. Although, he was just returning the favour.

"Tatum, I love you, but we might have to rethink our relationship after this," I called over my shoulder. "I mean, trying to kill each other is just a little too over the line for me."

"Now is not the time for jokes, Spencer," she said angrily, getting closer to me.

"Oooh, full name alert," I laughed, but it was a nervous sound. Jokes were dissuading her from murder, apparently. What else could?

"I'm fine!" Emily hollered as she ran from a very murderous-looking Asher.

"Look, darling, I have a friend in need at the moment, so it looks like I'm gonna have to ditch you—" Before I could even finish my sentence, Tatum was on top of me. "Why is this everyone's go to for murder?" I cried.

"Guys, what the hell is going on?" Ryder asked. Him, Jake, and Alastair were standing there in confusion. None of them had any murderous urges, or so it seemed.

"Spence!" Emily shouted. "I think the forest only affects people in love!"

"Awe," I grinned, "how sweet."

"Not when your significant other is trying to murder you, you idiot!" I ignored her. Not on purpose though, but because Tatum was choking me. Unfortunately this wasn't the right circumstance for me to enjoy this, though.

"Come on Tatum, you're stronger than this," I rasped, smacking at her arms. It was no use, though. "You have to fight this, or I'm going to end up dead. I know you joke about wanting to kill me all the time, but this is for real now. You hear that?" I looked up into her face, nearly blacking out. "This is real."

She was breathing heavily, but something in her eyes changed. It was the smallest thing, but I just happened to be looking at the right time. "Sorry," she said weakly. I finally relaxed, briefly learning how to breathe again.

"It's okay," I sighed, pulling her into my arms. "It's okay."
