Dzere really didn't give me much to work with. All he did was give me a small map of Illinois that consists of which demons camped out where, including Levi.

Right now I was in Aurora which was about forty-five minutes by vehicle. And I was on foot so it was more like half a day, maybe even a little bit more than half a day, because what fun would a demon have if there wasn't anything fun to be expected.

I sigh, glancing around at the destruction. Aurora had no color to it, it was just all gray. Piles of debris and parts of vehicles that had been destroyed during the war were scattered across what was left of the road. A NAPA sign that had been split down the middle lays in the middle of the road, nearly causing me to trip. I mutter under my breath and continued on my way, well the way that Dzere outlined on the map.

The town was nothing like it was when humans ran it. Sure, wasn't perfect, but it sure as heck was better than the way the demons are running it.

I was now walking down Claim St. not getting my hopes up for much of a view. Most of the buildings on this street were either charred or covered in ashes from a fire that swept through. I was trying to find a place that was still in tact so I can seek shelter from the dawn's morning rays. It didn't even have to be a house, it could be an old, run down coffee shop for all I care, just somewhere that I could sleep the day away. I hated the sun, it was too bright, happy. And too hot. Few of the many reasons that prefer to travel by dark.

Eventually I found a small shack that was still surprisingly in good condition. Well, the outside at least. I was happy and content as I head towards it. Only to get shocked.

"Urg!" I yell, as the pain travels through my entire body. After about a minute, I fell to the ground panting.

What. In the actual fuck. I growl inside my head, glancing around. I didn't try to take the collar off, so why did I get shocked?

"Do you really think I'm going to let you rest?" Came Dzere's voice. I glance around but there was nothing there. It was like a whisper in the wind.

Climbing shakily to my feet, I noticed a shadow move out of the corner of my eye. I glare at the general spot where there was movement, but nothing moved. Everything was the same still. I narrow my eyes and continue on my way.

I ended up in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. I kick the stupid, already broken Welcome to Dodgeville sign. I knew I shouldn't have trusted Dzere's map. I should've known he was going to pull a nasty prank like this. Now he is probably sitting there, laughing his every loving butt off while I'm over here exhausted and now more confused than ever.

I sigh, plopping down on a tree stump, rubbing my eyes. The black envelope pokes my elbow every time I rub my eye. It wouldn't surprise me if the letter was a joke too. Even though I know I shouldn't let my curiosity get the best of me, I grab the letter and slowly open it with shaky hands.

Zares fe las knois fen nas. Jev syet hunm.

Those words were neatly scrawled in red against the black background. I squint and gasp as I make out the words clearly with no trouble.

"I am sending the Angel to you. Dispose of him," I said out loud. I drop the letter.

Wasn't that suppose to be difficult for humans to read? How come I was able to read it? What is this "angel" that Dzere is talking about? I gulp as one haunting question lingers in my mind. Am I really a human?
