The One That Got Away (On Going on my Dreame Account)

Prologue

Halos walang naka sinding ilaw sa loob ng hall, ang tanging maliwanag lang ay ang ilaw sa harap ng entablado kung saan may podium. Nakakabingi rin ang sound system sa loob. Pero okay lang, hilig naman ng barkada ang pumarty.

Pang party talaga ang vibe buong magdamag kaya naman hindi namin pinalampas ang gabing ito. Ang lahat ay nakabihis rin ng maganda. Of course it's the night everyone in highschool is talking about.

Prom.

Mga estudyante gaya ko, halo na ang juniors at seniors at kahit mga teachers namin ay talagang nagsasaya. Everyone is definitely having the night of their lives as we were all gathered for our prom night.

The theme for our prom that evening was a that classic Masquerade Ball.

I was with my long time friends Robi, Joshua and Khalil. Hindi makukumpleto ang highschool life ko kung wala ang mga mokong na to. Kahit ganito sila, mga siraulo eh mga totoong mga kaibigan ko mga to. We are brothers at heart. Dahil nasa college na si Kuya at babae ang kapatid kong bunso, sila ang madalas kong kasama kahit saan man ako magpunta.

We were just few of the many who promised to make that night one of our best yet. May plano na kame para mamayang gabi.

Last ko na to. Dahil gagraduate na ako. Kaya't I promised myself to make the most of tonight. After prom, we will get wasted.

Robi reserved the penthouse of their hotel for us. Kameng magbabarkada siyempre kasama pati mga girlfriend namin. We will drink like there is no tomorrow or until we get our brains soaked with alcohol. That's the plan.

Seniors na kame, kaya YOLO ang motto namin because after summer we will be all going to college. I don't know if magiging madalas ang pagkikita namin dahil hindi kame same ng mga course na gustong kunin.

I am personally very excited about it. I mean college. I don't know why. Just thinking of college makes me happy. Siguro dahil sa additional freedom, bukod sa Manila na ako mag aaral ay pinangakuan pa ako ni Daddy ng sarili kong kotse on my graduation day.

It was prom of 2010, Gregory Dale Exclusive High-school occupied the most luxurious hall in one of the most expensive hotel in the city. Na pagmamayari ng pamilya namin.

The night was young and so were we.

Masaya ang lahat sa lively party music when suddenly it was cut when somebody spoke over the mic.

Ang malakas na boses ni Mr. Felix Pablo. Ang principal ng GDEH.

Mukhang may iaannounce, tumingin ako sa relo. It was almost 10:30. It was about time.

Di pa rin matigil sa kwentuhan at asaran yung mga katable ko. Ako tahimik lang na sumasabay sa tugtog.

"Hon!" bigla akong niyakap mula sa likod. Lumingon agad ako sa kanya. Sa bango pa lang alam ko na kung sino. I showed her my bright smile.

"I think mag aannounce na ng Prom King. I'm sure it's you." sabi niya.

I pulled her near me and made her to sit on my lap.

"Talaga? Ewan ko lang baka hati ang votes. Di ba kasali sa choices si Diego? Pero what I'm sure is...you'll be the Prom Queen Hon." sabi ko sa kanya na inikot ko ang kamay ko sa bewang niya which I know she loves.

She smiled and it made my smile wider. She looks beautiful. Nakakadala ang ngiti niya palagi.

She cupped my face and pressed her forehead against mine. Nagkatitigan lang kame and we were smiling like crazy.

Everytime I look into her eyes,it's as if I get lost and when I look again I find my way again. I knew who she was and I knew who I thought I saw in her. Then I look away. Yung mabilis lang, hindi niya namamalayan na lumalim saglit ang pagiisip ko.
