The transparent, yellow-tinted forcefield that Sapphire was trapped behind reminded her of the first time she was en route to Homeworld. The only difference was that she had no idea what was going to happen now; there were too many possibilities.

The ship came to an abrupt halt, to Sapphire's terror. The forcefield closed in on itself and Yellow Diamond latched onto her wrist. The gem rebelled and shook out of her grasp.
"Get your hands off me." she growled, an anger seeping into her tone. She was lifted off the ground by her neck and became face to face with the ruthless diamond.
"Do not speak to me like that," she hissed, "I honestly would hate to shatter you,"
Sapphire gulped. Shattered. She meekly nodded her head in agreement and kept quiet. Yellow Diamond dropped her impassively. After a menacing look from her, Sapphire held out her arm grimly. Yellow Diamond grabbed it and guided her through a modern Homeworld.

Homeworld was...certainly different from how Sapphire had remembered it all them years ago. It was a dismal embarrassment compared to the old planet that the crystal gem had once lived on.
There were slaves, poor ruby slaves (and she swore she saw a glint of shame in each of their eyes) who painstakingly lifted solid bricks that were twice their size. They seemed to be building a statue. Although it appeared to be in the early stages of development, the prisoner could already see a stone-crafted Blue Diamond, staring at her with disappointment in her gaze. Sapphire shuddered, her Diamond, she must be so embarrassed of her.

She dismissed the thought immediately, reminding herself she belonged to Rose Quartz, or nobody now, really.

In the distance, she could see freshly formed Amethsyts, learning how to fight: the Homeworld way.
"No, Stop!" White Diamond declared, a disgusted look on her face, "You," she pointed a long, bony finger at one of the soldiers, "You ducked! I would've been struck! You were trying to kill your own diamond!" She posed about, dramatically.
"No, I-I wa-" the Amethyst stammered, beads of sweat prickling on her forehead. But the Diamond was hearing none of it. She waved lethargically at the trainees, who quickly dispersed. With one hand firmly planted on the Quartz's shoulder (the other poking into her back, forcing her forward), lead her to a tall and gloomy tower, spiralling way up out of sight. This was the destination that Sapphire was headed for too.

Before she knew it, she was stepping inside the ominous building and climbing the winding steps. After the strenuous climb, she found herself in a wide, cold room. In the centre was a flat, metal table with wires and clips hanging above it.

"Give me your hand" Yellow Diamond ordered, already standing in the middle of the room. Sapphire reluctantly held out her hand. Had she realised that the leader was going to poof her on the spot, she would have gave her the hand that didn't have her gem on it. But she did, and the world darkened.

-
For a moment, a disorientated Sapphire glanced around worriedly, forgetful of her surroundings and the lack of familiar faces. Once she remembered what was happening, she grimaced and turned back to look at her kidnapper.

But in between this process, the gem's legs fell wobbly and she collapsed to the ground. She noticed her bangs had been cut neatly, and in consequence her eye was exposed. She looked down and, to her confusion, she was dressed in a sad, grey tank top and baggy, black shorts. Her stomach screwed up, and she grasped it tightly, flushing in agony at the pain. Pushing into her stomach, she could feel sharp, solid shapes present, which were never there before.

"Feeling different?" Yellow Diamond read her mind, leaning back on the rusty, metal chair she was sitting on. The gem looked up, her breathing harsh and quick.
"What...have you done?" She asked between gasps.
"I was hoping you'd ask that!" The Diamond answered cheerfully. She clapped her hands loudly and in walked a pearl.

Sapphire's eye opened wide in terror. This pearl's gem was neatly in between two curls of hair on its forehead, the rest was spiked back. It wore a turquoise, sleeveless turtleneck, a small yellow star positioned on its chest. A tiny, see-through skirt rested upon it's yellow shorts. Finally, it sported floppy, pink socks and blue flats.

It looked exactly like Pearl.

"Let me give you a short lesson on Homeworld history," Yellow Diamond began, "When your rebellious gems set off to Earth to make a plan, us Diamonds did likewise. Gems stepping out of line like this? It was not going to carry on.

We thought shattering any gem that gained feeling was alright, but was it really effective? We needed something that would really learn them. Hence why this idea has now been put into action."

She turned to the pearl, who lifted up her shirt with shaky hands. Beneath lay a fragile body. A ribcage was protruding out of its skin. She scanned over the rest of its body, which gave off the same, breakable appearance: bony arms, matchstick legs, shrivelled face.

"Humiliation, starvation, slow death," Sapphire turned her attention back to the monster, but didn't take her eye off the skinny wreck. She was smiling, but the fear and shame in her eyes overpowered it.

"This is our new technology: to tap into the gem pre-regeneration and modify them in any way we like. So you're basically a human now, isn't that fascinating!"

Sapphire broke eye contact with the Pearl and looked down to her hand. She sighed with relief when she saw her blue, triangular-cut gem, winking back at her.

"Lungs, heart, kidneys, a skeletal system.... Just think of it as the YD Human Package Pro!" She laughed with pride at her own joke and then stood up.

She took Sapphire's hand, squeezing it too tightly, and began to take her to her home for the rest of her existence. She stopped, sighing angrily at the still-present pearl.

She tilted her head up, glaring at the gem through the narrow slits of her eyes. The pearl quickly scampered away, and as she brushed past Sapphire, it felt like a feather had just floated past her.
