Chapter Six

It's been half a year now since I've become a leader. The once-called Hollows, feasting on peculiar flesh, have become silent. Silent in a way that they, too, will die. The wights, who stalked their prey, are now just trying their best to survive as long as possible. Before I even sat on the throne, they were acting like this. I wonder why. One thing is for sure those Peculiar people are framing us as much as possible. Well, I hope that they're aware that they're also going to die as well. It doesn't even matter who to frame at this point.

Not at all even...

A few minutes later, I received a text message coming from my phone (that is pretty much almost dead) from Conryd that they have the Medium. All is good and safe. She is very important at this point and at the same time, it has been a while. I've missed her so much. I hope she can still remember me despite my appearance. The void-deceiving eyes, the pale white skin, the cracks on my skin that will soon shatter off my body. I hope she ignores these appearances. I bet she has them too after the accident. I know she will be really different from me, but who knows? Appearances don't really matter at this point.

I rushed to my bedroom to prepare myself for her arrival. I opened the old mahogany closet full of clothes that I barely even use. The people here really treat me as a leader and I should feel bad. The fact that I pretty much use a fraction from the wardrobe depends on my mood. Well, who cares? I'm not a stylish person after all.

I chose the good ol' royal leather cape that kept me warm over the past months. Raining is forever in Wales and this cape kept me warm. Dad told me that my great-grandfather lived with me before if I can remember. I do not know why this place is so significant that made both of us here. I ought to know more soon.

The day is dark and the rain is cold. I stepped outside on the soggy wet road in front of my house. I asked one of the three fellow mistresses to lead me to the area where I'll meet them. Among all the good places, they chose the campsite apparently. I even reprimanded them that it'll be in front of my house. But no, they chose the hard life. Lazy bastards.

I asked Olivia, the mistress that helped me guide me to the area if I look mighty fine in this outfit.

"Do I look neat enough?"

"You're always the same," she sighed.

We kept on walking and walking until I saw a lot of people in that area. Everyone seemed to be excited to see the Medium that we've all awaited. But there is one thing that I think I forgot about. Something that is very important every time I interacted with her in my dreams. I kept on toying with her which made me forget about something so important.

But what could it be?

The car arrived from the misty loop and everyone became excited. All the Wights and Hollows tremble with felicity in their hearts. They seem so eager to see my sister for how many months now. Maybe decades for them. But still, I have yet to ponder much more. It's at the tip of my tongue that's for sure.

The car is parked beside the campsite. Everyone became hesitant. I, too and somewhat not sure, became hesitant to see her.

Conryd and Kepler came out first but the Medium seemed too shy to come out.

I bet she is afraid.

They asked if she wants to come out but she refused to. I told the boys that I'll be the one instead since I'm her sister after all.

Nervousness crawled up to my heart but I slowly breathe it out as I approach the car. I take a peek inside and she is truly unique among the rest. She is curled in nervousness and hopes to come back home. I feel bad for her but it is a must.
