Chapter Five

I can feel myself moving, hearing the fast-pacing zoom of the air. I can't describe where am I. Slowly, I opened my eyes. Hearing the blurry conversations turning even clearer. I looked around a bit. Two people talking. I looked outside and tall autumn trees are all that I can see. I checked myself if I'm still alive or so. Then I realized,

I'm in a car.

I tried my best to eavesdrop on the conversations that they were talking about by pretending to sleep. I closed my eyes and rested for a bit. Trying not to start a commotion.

"Why do we need her again?"

"Well, she told us to get her. She said that she's really important."

She. It's a girl.

I sprung up from my debatable defence form. Scaring the two lovely people.

"Who is she?"

They screamed, making them distracted. They were so scared, they went to the point where they stopped the car. Breathing back their hearts. Giving me a chance to escape.

I opened the door just after they stopped the car. I started to run away as far as possible. Not knowing where the hell I'm going but hoping somewhere far. Very, very far away from them.

I ran fast. Faster than I could ever imagine before. I looked behind and they were catching up. I kept on running until I'm starting to run out of breath. I kept following where the road takes me. But the more I run, the more I can feel some stranger presence. Something I don't even want to feel. It's like the one in my dreams but way more realistic.

I kept running until I have to stop. I looked around and I'm surrounded by mists of fog. I see nothing but grey around me. Just clouds around me. I'm lost.

I heard their footsteps but I can't see them because of the fog. I looked around to find them but all I can see is just the fog. I was unsure about where I am but I really want to go forward. Somehow I can't because I know something really bad might happen. It's either I have to trust them or myself.

They stopped and shouted, "don't go! We will lose you and the place your heading is something you shouldn't explore."

A place I shouldn't explore. Very tempting.

"If you do, we will lose you for good!"

For good huh?

Temptations arise in my head. Should I trust them or not? Are they really trying to protect me or they're just tricking my head? Such choices. But in this situation, I have to keep moving.

"I'm not a child. I'm a grown child."

And of I go through the fog.

I kept on running and running through the thick fog. I'm lucky that it didn't rain but still, I have to run. The fog kept on being thicker and thicker but I suddenly feel the change of the surroundings. I kept on running until I can feel the warm welcome of the light ahead of me. I ran towards it until I can see what was behind the hidden frame of the photo.

I closed my eyes as the light becomes even brighter than the sunlight. I kept running until,

I have reached the end of the tunnel.

I have reached the end of the tunnel
