Lily POV
The holidays are over, and I just boarded the Hogwarts express. I was so excited about the upcoming school year, to see my friends and learn new things. Although I was made prefect this year and I would be taking my OWL's at the end of the year I had a really good feeling-
"Evans!" I heard a very familiar voice shout - Potter.
James Potter was a student from my year and also a Gryffindor. I really can't stand him and his little group of friends (Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew). I have a reason for loathing them. They always played tricks on Severus and many other students. They are also so full of themselves that it makes me sick. I can't help it, it annoys me so much. And another thing that annoyed me was that James Potter always seems to joke around and ask me out. And I suppose that is the main reason for why I loathe him. I know he doesn't really want to go out with me, it's just a stupid joke.
"What do you want?" I asked him.
"Well," he started (oh here we go again), "I was wondering if-"
"No" I snapped.
"But-"
"No."
"Come on-"
"No."
He frowned, "well tell me if you changeyour mind," he said and walked away, while shouting, "we have an entireyear ahead of us."
James POV
Why does she keep rejecting me? She's like the only girl that would, I mean is there any other girl that would say no to me? I haven't done anything to her... Well... Except for pranking Snape perhaps, but he's not good for her. I can see him turning into a death eater. And the other reason is that he is her friend, I get mad about it. Who wouldn't?
"Prongs!" Sirius greeted me, as I entered our compartment. I smiled as I sat down next to Remus, who was drowning his face inside of his book.
"Padfoot mate," I said and messed up my hair, "long time no see, how's family?" And this particular question made Sirius's face suddenly go from light and cheerful to dark and dangerous. I will admit, I do have a little habit of asking people questions which won't be received with a smiling face.
"I don't think I'll be able to spend another two years with them," he growled, "it's not mentally possible! It is just Regulus this, Bella that and did you know that the dark lord is amazing and great," he took a deep breath, "they make me sick!"
"Sirius calm down," Remus finally looked away from his book. I turned my head and looked at him.
"Why hello Moony, how's the furry-little-problem going?" Remus's face went very pale.
"You know you should really stop asking people questions," he said and I grinned widely.
"Otherwise," Remus said after a pause, "It's going just terrible."
"So..." Sirius said deciding to change topics "Why are you late? Was it dear Evans?"
"Shut up," I said a bit quickly. Sirius and Remus looked at each other and I could spot the amusement in their eyes.
"Will you answer my question?" Sirius urged me, he had a certain kind of twinkle in his eyes that I could not help noticing.
"Yes," I said carefully.
"YES!" Sirius shouted with excitement, "Moony, you owe me a galleon."
"So," I said annoyed, but laughing, while trying to be very serious, "You two had a bet on why I'm late and Padfoot got it... What was your bet Moony?"
"Well my bet was quite sensible I guess," Remus started, "I said that you have already got into trouble and serving detention on the train."
"Now that hasn't happened yet, has it?" I said, as my ambition to be the first student serving detention on the train rose, "we officially have two years left to serve detention on the train!"
"We could..." Sirius said, thinking as hard as he could, "Try to escape the train!"
"And fly to Hogwarts!" I added.
"Next year!" Sirius announced.
"It's a date," I agreed, as Remus shook his head laughing.
"Apparently," Remus said, "there is something guarding the train, preventing students from escaping."
"And what is supposed to be guarding the train?" Wormtail asked, suddenly joining the conversation.
"A door Wormtail," I told him and the sparkle in his eyes died.
"Oh," he said sadly.
"A door and the trolley lady," Sirius laughed, "not letting you through the door until you buy all the candy!"
"Or maybe the candy from her trolley attacks you!" Peter suggested and we all looked at him.
"Why would a candy attack you?" I asked him.
"And how would a candy attack you," Remus added, and Peter started thinking.
"Anyways Prongsy-poo," Sirius turned to me, deciding to drop the candy attack problem, "when are you planning to ask old Lily-poo out again?"
"Well," I thought for a moment, "maybe tomorrow at lunch..."
"Yes, tomorrow just before lunch," I confirmed,"when she is going be starving. She'll be wanting to eat with anybody."

Future Lizzie:
I would just like to point out, that even though there is (apparently) a Cursed Child reference in this chapter, I wrote this ages ago (year 2014), before that 'book' was published.
Also, while we are on the subject, do you consider The Cursed Child cannon or not? (I don't, but that is just my opinion)
