Dylan's POV
My entire body started shaking and I felt like I was falling, the world was getting more and more distant and I felt trapped in the small space of the car. I buried my head in my hands and suffered it all alone.
My mother didn't seem to notice and I didn't want to worry her. She had had enough problems with my rebellious brother and his gang friends. I was the golden son but then everything changed and I fucked up. I'm no longer the man in the house, the one with a stable life and mind. I'm the wacko who couldn't leave the house for 4 months because I was scared, scared of what I've become and what I've done.
Oh god. why is this happening to me?
My entire body felt drained of energy and all I wanted to do was to go sleep but of course I had to put on this outer facade of being confident and pretend everything's alright.
As I stepped out of the car I shivered from the cold. They say that spring is the sign of new beginnings but for me it's one of those confusing times of the year when its too warm to wear jackets but too cold to wear a T-shirt. And here I was, in a plain white T-shirt and a pair of black jeans freezing my butt off.
~One hour later~
I had just been shown the room I was going to live in and I released a huge breath I had been holding after saying goodbye to my mother.
Finally alone
The room had only had one window and two small beds, one covered with a small grey blanket and the other one messy and used. They had told me I was going to live with this girl Riley Woods and I think It's safe to assume that the messy bed is hers. After inspecting the room further I noticed some small drawings on the greyish white walls on Riley's side of the room.
There were countless of them but only one really stood out to me.
A detailed drawing of an angel trying to fly away. I had this feeling that made me feel like it wasn't just a drawing, not just a girl trying to escape but something much deeper.
I don't know why I suddenly had this huge urge to go and find out what It really meant but what I do know is that I wasn't going to stop at anything to find out.
I mean, there's really nothing fun here to do so why not?
I Pushed the door open to go out and explore this place when I heard a loud "FUCK!".
A girl was lying down on the ground right behind the door and I realized that I must have hit her with the door. Just my luck. "Oh shit! I'm so sorry!" I immediately bent down to help her stand up but she instantly tensed up and broke out of my grip.I must admit, I was kind of shocked that she had been standing outside of my room. Maybe she was just trying to see who I was since I've only been here for 30 minutes and nobody really knows me, or maybe she was waiting on me... No, not me. Riley! She must have been waiting for Riley! I started rambling about how sorry I was but as soon as she looked up at me I stopped and my jaw dropped. No, It wasn't one of those moments where the guy sees the super hot girl and falls in love at first sight. It was one of those nightmare scenarios where you don't know if you're supposed to help or run. Her entire face was covered in blood and more was coming out of her nose dripping down on her grey sweater. I just stood there frozen and thought about that night but thankfully I was able to get out of my dazed state and stupidly said "Oh shit! You're bleeding!"
"No shit Sherlock." she answered me with an angry scowl and turned around walking towards the end of the hallway.
After a moment of hesitation I decided to follow her and apologize even though I already did for five solid minutes. "I'm so sorry, I really didn't mean to hit you with the door. I mean, what were you even doing standing behind my door?"
"Well, I was just about to go into MY room and mind my own business when I got hit by the door" She answered as I slowly put the pieces together.
"What?" I said scrunching his eyebrows together. "Wait... oh .. You're Riley Woods?" I asked as realization dawned upon me.
