Chapter 3

Riley's POV.

I passed several doors and stopped in front of an old white door, the paint had started peeling off and its original yellow colour was shining through. The thought of having another complete stranger living with me so soon made my blood boil. Jacob had actually been a pretty decent roommate and even though we barely spoke I got attached to him. A friend without questions. It was plain disrespectful to him that a new guy just jumps in and takes his place the same day he's getting buried.

I had just started thinking about how to approach this new issue when the door swinged open with great force and hit me straight in the face.

"FUCK!"

I collapsed on the floor and brought my hand to my nose that was gushing out blood and was hurting like hell.

"Oh shit! I'm so sorry!!" I heard a deep voice yell and I felt a pair of strong arms help me up from the hard floor I was lying on. I flinched at his touch and quickly escaped from his arms. My heart was racing and my mind was getting cloudy, one of the first signs of my approaching panic attack. My hands were starting to sweat and the boys words were getting distant.

Okay Riley, it's just a pair of hands

He's long gone and you have to get. over. it.

Just count down from 10 in your mind like mister Evans told you and take deep breaths.

10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

In less than 20 seconds I had fully recovered from the initial shock and survived a mini panic attack but now all my focus was on the dazzling boy in front of me. The reason for all of this mess.

I looked up at him and noticed that he was pretty tall and well built. He was wearing the FHMI patient uniform consisting of grey sweatpants and a grey loose T-shirt with his name written on it just under his collar bone. Dylan. My new roommate. Raising my gaze into his worried golden brown eyes I saw that he had chocholate brown hair and the facial features of a model with an exception for the small scar on his chin. He had been rambling and apologising profusely for this entire time but now he was just looking into my eyes with his eyes wide.
We probably stared at each other for five seconds but it felt like an eternity but I had to break the eye contact due to the blood that was still gushing out of my nose.

"Oh shit, you're bleeding" Dylan said after standing there dumbstruck for a couple of seconds.

"No shit Sherlock" I muttered and started turning around, ready to head to one of the nurses.

I had already started walking away from him when he ran after me and said "I'm so sorry, I really didn't mean to hit you with the door. I mean, what were you even doing standing behind my door?"

"Well, I was just about to go into MY room and mind my own business when I got hit by the door" I answered getting annoyed at him for not only taking Jacobs place but also for being the reason why I got a nosebleed. Dylan stopped walking and looked confused for a second.

"What?" he said scrunching his eyebrows together. "Wait... oh .. You're Riley Woods?"he asked as realization dawned upon him.
