1 - Awake

Vana's POV

2012

I didn't know why but I couldn't wake up I knew I was asleep and I tried to wake up or move but I couldn't do anything except give off a signal. I had done it before but I know I must be weak because it drains me, when it shouldn't. I tried giving off a signal before but every time I would get drained and I would fall into darkness with no sense of time so I didn't know how long I was in the darkness. This time though, I decided to wait a little bit in my state of asleep yet aware long enough to get enough energy to give a signal long enough for my family to track me. When I finally felt I had enough energy I gave my signal, and heard all kind of crashing noises around me, which told me that it was a pretty strong signal. I pushed my limits and held out as long as I could until I finally fell back into the blackness.

Orabel's POV

As I did every day I went to the library in the castle to look at the orb, never loosing hope that Vana would give off a signal. This time when I walked in I noticed the orb was blinking; I dropped all the books in my hands and rushed to the orb. We had her location, she was alive and I knew where she was. All I could do was scream with joy. My parents and brother ran into the library probably expecting me to be in some kind of trouble instead of wearing a smile for the first time since Vana went missing. However I feel this scared them more than me lying dead on the floor would have. I quickly showed them the orb and then we were all hugging each other and screaming out in joy.

My father sent me to retrieve Vana and made me promise not to get caught. He gave me a bag of potions just in case Vana needs something like to be invisable. Before I left I did some research of what little we know about the humans; however I doubted it was accurate considering it was information we gathered three thousand years ago.

When I got to the shore I took the orb out of my bag and started following the directions to where the signal came from. I walked nonstop for a week before I finally made it to the place where Vana was. I tried to walk through the doors but I was stopped by a big man "you're not allowed in this building ma'am" he said. "I must get in there to retrieve my sister, I have come to take her home." I said trying to persuade him to let me in.

"What is your sisters name?" "Vana." I replied hopefully. "I'm sorry there is no one in here by that name." the man said after looking at something that was like my orb but it was flat and square. I just walked away and hid behind a wall. I checked my orb to make sure I was at the right place. I was. I knew he wasn't going to let me in so I went through my bag and found the potion for invisibility, and took a drink. In a matter of seconds I was invisible.

I walked around the building keeping my focus on the orb walking through the maze towards my sister. At one point I was blocked by a door that wouldn't open, so I sprayed water out of my hand and onto a box that had a sign above it that read 'Caution: do not get wet'. After that it let me through. I finally found Vana lying on a bed asleep, and I tried to wake her but was unsuccessful. I gave up and pulled a potion out of my bag and gave her a sip. In a few seconds she shot up. We hugged and smiled and then decided we should get out of there before we got caught.

Vana's POV

Orabel and I walked out the doors of the room I was in and I followed her out of the building. When we passed one of the rooms I could feel someone begging, no pleading to wake up. Someone nearby was wishing for something. I grabbed Orabels arm and pulled her towards me so I could wisper something to her. "I can't go with you yet" she looked hurt by what I said so I decided to quickly explain. "I can feel someone wishing to wake up, I was just asleep for who knows how long, and this man is begging to wake up, I don't want him to suffer anymore. I know what it feels like wanting to wake up but not being able to. I have to wake him up. Just give me the extra orb and I will meet you at the nearest beach, I promise, trust me."

She grabs the extra orb from bag, gives it to me smiling at me reassuringly and walks off. I go in the opposite direction and turn a couple corners until I sense the man's presence behind a black metal door. I walk through the door to see a muscular man with blond hair lying on a bed. I walk over to him and kneel down on the floor next to the bed. I put my hand in his and will him a wake. I stand up and walk out of the room knowing it takes a few minutes for the wish to come true. I start to walk out of the building, following the orbs directions until I bump into a tall man. I step back and look up to him, and he seems to recognize me. He grabs my arm and pulls me into a room and puts some silver thing on my wrist and a table in front of me, then walks out of the room. I try to follow but the metal thing on my wrist stops me, so I decide to just sit and wait.

After what the orb says is three hours a black man in all black with something over his eye walks through the door and sits in a chair across from me. "What's your name?" he questions.

"Vana"

"How old are you?"

"I don't know; how long was I asleep?"

"Almost 70 years"

"70 years, that would make me 390"

"Don't lie to me"

"What's that?"

I think about the word he just said 'lie?'

"What do you mean what's that?"

"The word you just said, Lie, what does it mean, I am not familiar with the term"

The man glares at me.

"Tell me everything you know about yourself."

"I can't, it's against the law for me to tell any human anything about me or Aewyna"

"What is Aewyna?"

"Can't tell you"

The man stands up and is about to walk out of the room when I stop him.

"How is Steve Rogers, is he enjoying being awake, I know how it feels to be asleep for 70 years."

"How do you know that?"

"I woke him up, he really wanted to wake up so I woke him, and I didn't want him to suffer anymore."

"How did you wake him up?"

I just shake my head. "Can't tell you."

The man leaves and I just wait again, and startmessing with the orb. If anyone is watching me I probably look really runnysince it's still invisible from Orabel having it while she was invisible.
