Chapter 13
"Oh Whitney!" I haven't seen you in ages! Who are your friends?" Whitney's grandmother exclaimed after she answered the door.
"Um, this is Talia, Zara, Ava, Autumn, and my boyfriend Drew."
"Well isn't he handsome," her grandma said winking, causing Whitney to blush.
"Hey grandma," Eden said pushing through our group to get to the front.
"Hi sweetie," she replied kissing her granddaughter's cheek. "So what's going on here? My guess is you're not here just to say hello..."
"Well - " then Whitney went on to explain exactly what was happening, from being a Supernatural to the vampire and lastly she explained what happened with her mom.
"Hmm... I don't think your mother will be too happy with you taking Eden away from her."
"I don't care, she's not fit to be mine and Eden's mother if she's going to hate something that's a part of us."
"You're right; I never liked the stories about Supernaturals that your grandfather told your mother. That's one of the reasons why I divorced him."
"I never knew that." Whitney said looking like she was millions of miles away.
That's exactly how I felt now that I thought about it, like I was a million miles away. Tuning out the chattering voices around me I looked around. We were in a small foyer, way too small for the amount of people in it. To the right was the doorway to the formal dining room; to the left was the living room; I guess the kitchen was at the back of the house.
It had been such an overwhelming day, I felt so physically and emotionally drained. Without anyone noticing I slipped out the front door and leaned against the railing of the wrap around porch. The breeze was surprisingly warm for March - especially at 7:30 - but it felt nice on my slightly sweaty skin.
I stood out there for awhile, thinking about everything. What to do about Asher? What about Ethan? How are we going to kill Lynx? So many questions but not enough answers. Seems like it is always like that, you never just know, you're always wondering. I sighed, why does everything have to be so difficult? Once again there's another question I can't answer, I can only wonder.
"Hey Autumn, are you alright? Whitney sent me to check on you." Said Ava as she walked outside.
"She read my mind again, didn't she?" I asked, irritated.
"She only checked, she didn't snoop." Ava replied, defending her. God, I hate when Whitney or Megan reads my mind. Ever since the barrier Lynx had on my mind wore off they always 'check' on me. "Are you okay?" Ava pushed.
"Yeah." No.
"Alright, how's your neck?"
Right, I still have my bandage on. I always forget it's there. The dull ache isn't even noticeable. "It's alright I think. You'd probably know better than me though."
"I'll change your bandages tonight. We're allowed to stay as long as we need. Oh, and Whitney's grandma wants us to call her grandma Sharewood from now on." Ava giggled at the last part.
"Okay, what's going to happen with Eden?" I asked curious.
"I think she's going to live here, at least until their mother accepts them."
"I wonder how long that will take."
"Who knows, anyway grandma Sharewood wants us in bed!"
I laughed. "Let's go. We don't want to keep her waiting."
