.TWO.
"Ya know I haven't been called that nickname in awhile." Van looked over at the girl incredulously as she continued to lazily sip her drink. She propped herself up against the bar with her forearms and her cheek rested on her hand as she turned to Van.
"Really? I thought yous would've been called that more often. It's cute, definitely suites yous." A mischievous grin split her Eve's face as she didn't miss a beat.
"Oh? You think I'm cute"
"Ya, but not as cute as me love." She pouted and looked at him unimpressed. He chuckled and reached over to mess up her fringe which she glared at him for as she fixed it back into place.
"So back to what we were talking about earlier, does seriously no one call yous Evie?" Van reached over and tucked a lock of hair that she missed behind her ear. That's when he noticed she had a cherry red guitar pic ear stud pierced in her left ear.
She shook her head with a drunken smile, "Nope. I haven't heard that one in years. It's usually Eve or Ev. Sometimes Evs, Lyn, May, May-May, E, Em or whatever get thrown into the mix depending on who it is. Hell, Clarity has been a quite a popular nickname choice lately." He chuckled at her reference to the Marvel Hero she plays.
"Well then let me be the one to bring it back, if you don't mind."
"Go for it love. I don't mind."
There was a beat of silence before a confused expression crossed Van's face.
"By the way... where did 'Em' come from?"
"My initials silly! E for Evelyn, M for May! Em!"
Van snorted in amusement "Clever."
"Right? It's weird because I call one of my friends that since her name is Emily and it makes more sense to call her that. But she calls me Em too!" he laughed at her ramblings and soon she joined. The pair lapsed into a comfortable silence as they drunkenly leaned on each other when their heads started making the room spin a bit. Van touched her earring with his fingertips, which made Eve shiver at the ghost-like feeling of his fingers on her ear.
"Your earring is class by the way. Do yous play?"
"Why thank you! I actually don't know how to play the guitar. I'm more into listening and watching people play. It fascinates me."
"Really I could've sworn Lew mentionin' summin' 'bout yous in music at school."
"No I'm absolute crap at it. My gramps and Rylan have tried teaching me, but it never clicked with me ya know? I double majored in school. I did acting -of course- and singing."
Van quirked an eyebrow up in intrigue. "Explains that pretty singing voice of yours" She snorted.
"Stop lying you flirt."
"Lying? Flirt? I dunno what yous talking about love." The feigned ignorance in his tone wasn't lost on her as she laughed, Van chuckling along with her. She shook her head and got their conversation back on track.
"Oh my earring... I needed to get my left ear pierced for Thor so that happened. My little sister, not Joyce the other one, made this for me. It comes off so who ever needs it ends up using it as an actual pic.""Nice, I might just have to bum that off yous one day." She nodded and smiled before resting her head against his shoulder. Van chuckled and rested his cheek against the crown of her head, the two of them settled into a comfortable silence as the rest of the bar was loud and giddy around them.
"Yous have another little sister?"
"Yeap. She's 16. Actually a big fan of you guys as well after I turned her onto you. Kathleen is her absolute favorite." This girl was absolutely incredible to Van.
