"Shoot shoot, no," Gwen said over and over as she held the test in her hands. She read the word over and over again, as if thinking the word would change, but of course, it stayed the same.

Postive.

Nope, the word was most surely not positive. How was she going to do this? They had only been married for six months, that wasn't enough time. And most of all, what would Peter think? Sure, he was a good guy and wouldn't leave her alone with the baby, but still. He wouldn't exactly be enthusiastic either.

Shoving the test back into the box and hiding it in her bottoms drawer like any other practical woman would do, Gwen walked back into the living room. She tried arranging a mental list in her head. She was just over a month pregnant, meaning it would be a while before she began to show, but Gwen Stacy was not a procrastinator.

She stole a glance at the clock, realizing it would be at least an hour before Peter arrived. What would she tell him? Hey honey how was your day? Oh by the way I'm pregnant. Are you okay with tacos for dinner?

Yeah for some reason that didn't seem like a good way to go.

To be completely honest, she really didn't know why she was so nervous about telling him. He had never straight up told her he didn't want any kids, but somehow Peter always managed to change the subject whenever the topic arouse, and avoid the topics all together. That wasn't exactly reassuring.

Taking a deep breath, Gwen placed a hand on her belly and felt a smile sneak its way onto her face.

"I'm going to have a baby," she murmured to herself. She thought of her and Peter teaching their little child how to walk, and the oohs and ahhs when he/she said their first words. Peter would be a wonderful father she knew; he was so sweet and playful. But her? Gwendylon Stacy, science expert and first at Midtown High? That wasn't nearly as fun.

But the thought of Peter and their child helped the smile return its place on her face. She may need to plan and strategize, but you could bet Gwen Stacy was going to tell her husband before the evening ended.

"Gwen darling, I'm home!" She heard Peter as the front door opened and closed.

"Bug boy!" Gwen stepped into the living room, feining happiness despite the fact her nerves were only continuing to rise. He reached over and engulfed her in a hug as he whispered against her ear.

"I missed you."

Gwen rolled her eyes but smiled nonetheless, "You were gone for eight hours."

"Eight hours too long," he said, still not letting her go. Reluctantly, Gwen pulled away from the hug.

"Peter, we really need to talk."

"About what?" Peter asked, all playfulness gone from his expression. "Has something happened to you? It's Harry isn't it? I knew it was a bad idea for you trying to go talk to him in that prison a few days ago. Did he say something? Oh know it's me isn't it? What-?"

"Peter!" Gwen shrieked. "It's not Harry-"

"Oh man," he interuppted, not listening to the rest. "It's me. What did I do? I did do something, right?"

Not being able to help herself, Gwen slightly smirked, "Well you did something...."

"I'm a horrible person-"

"And I'm pregnant!"

That shut him up pretty quickly. He stood there staring at her, his mouth agape, before he was able to ask, "Wh-what?"

Gwen sighed and looked away, "I know we didn't want to...but here we are." She flung her arms out as tears began to pool in her orbs. "I guess we're going to be parents."

Peter was silent as he crossed the space between them and pulled her to him, "No, Gwen don't cry. Shh." He kissed her forhead.

"But-but Peter, you.." Her lip quivered.

"No," he shook his head. "I love the baby already, and I love you, okay? Nothing will change that. We'll be amazing parents."

She looked up at him, "You said-"

"Nothing," he booped her nose, making her let out a slight giggle. "I said nothing except how much I love you, Gwen, and always will."

Smiling, Gwen nodded, "I love you too."

Her tears kep flowing, but she was happy.

She blamed it on the baby.
