I was walking back home. That's was very strange I had never had any sensation like that before. When I walked in I put the milk in the fridge and then sat down again.
"Mom is there any big business places in town? Like that someone would have to travel to for work?" I asked.
"Well, there is the doctors office but there's only a couple doctors in town. But they stay here, anyone that needed surgery would have to go to the hospital in the city." She replied.
"Okay thanks mom." I said just as the phone rung.
I got up to pick up the phone. "Hello?"
"oh my gosh, I never thought I'd hear your voice again, I can't believe you're back in town! This is Jaida, from school!" The voice on the other line rang.
"Oh, Jaida it's so good to hear your voice again, I didn't know you still lived here." I replied.
"Yes, I do. I wanted to know if you wanted to hang out today, for old times sake?"
"Of course what time and where?" I asked.
"Well, me and some other people that I'm going to college with are going up to the edge of town to check out those animal attacks and where they happens. Do you want to come?"
"Damn Jaida, you were always the daredevil, sure I'll go how scary can it be?"
"Great, I'll pick you up at your moms house, adios!" She hung up.
I ran up the stairs to change into warm clothes, jeans a sweater and a scarf will be warm enough.
An hour rolls by and I hear a knock at the door. I open it to see Jaida and a couple holding hands behind her. I hug Jaida for what seems like hours.
"Lexi, this is Max and Tyler, I'm going to college with them." She said
We said goodbye to my mom and got in their car. Me and Jaida sat in the back of the Jeep while Tyler and Max drove in the front.
"So, what do you think is going on? And why do you guys want to go up there?" I asked.
"Well I'm a photography major so I'm hoping to get some good shots of anything that's left of the scene." Max said.
"Cool, so bears maybe?" I asked.
"That's what everyone thinks, but you know I think it something a little more," Tyler paused. "Supernatural."
"Stop it Tyler that's nonsense, and you watch way too much of that show." Said Max.
"Destiel is real and you can't stop it!" Screamed Tyler.
"Enough with the gay Angels, your more involved in that relationship than ours!" Max screamed back.
Me and Jaida giggled in the back.
Eventually we got there and started walking. I was starting to regret not wearing something warmer than what I had. We got to the scene and they had left it gruesome. There was blood on the snow, that poor man. He is going to have a lot of scars from this.
Max started taking pictures, so me and Jaida looked around. "What do you think it was?" She asked. "I mean you hear that bears are afraid of humans, I couldn't do this to something I was afraid of."
"I'm really not sure, I might sound crazy but, what if it is something supernatural going on." I said looking down at the snow.
"Hmm, more like some weird genetic mutation of a bear that scientists thought were extinct. But who knows anything can happen."
I thought about that, I usually pace when I think so I started to wander. I eventually got separated and was lost. "Shit..." I whispered to myself. And it was freezing out, I held my arms tight to my body and shivered.
I felt a presence behind me so I turned around. I jumped at the sight of him as he had appeared out of no where.
"Holy shit..." I said, my heart beating fast. "Kade? What are you doing here?"
"You shouldn't be underdressed in this cold weather, you could freeze." He said
"Uh yea it's cold but answer my question."
"I'm here because your freezing cold, now here take my jacket." He said.
He slipped off his jacket and draped it over my shoulders. It was warm, and somehow I felt safe when he was helping me. I don't know how I could feel this way about a total stranger.
"Stay warm Alexa." He said walking into the woods, his figure fading into the flurry of snow. And I was left alone with a warm jacket and many questions.
