Thanksgiving Day

"See this is why you should've gotten everything together the night before, we're always the last ones to get here!" I snapped as he pulled into his parent's driveway.

"I couldn't find my lucky v-neck!" I shook my head. He got out out the car, then he walked over to the my door and helped me get out. "At least we made it..."

The ground was covered in snow. We walked up to the house. I was about to knock but Paul opened the door without hesitation.

"Look who finally made it!" Sabrina grinned. We ignored her and went into the kitchen where everyone was. I made sure to take of my boots, so I wouldn't track any snow through the house.

"Cousin Paul is here!" a little boy said, and a small group of kids ran over to hug him. Paul's family greeted me.

I loved how he was good with kids. It made me even more excited to have more of our own.

"Look how big you've gotten!" one his aunts said looking at my stomach. "I know your back must be killing you, come sit down".

All the women sat in the kitchen gossiping while the men went outside to play some football. The older women were tending to the food, while the younger women just sat around.

"Do you all need any help?" I questioned, standing up. Nobody else was offering to. "No, You rest." "I'm fine, I just feel like helping."

Paul's mom rested her hand on her hip and pointed a spoon at me. "I'm not going to have Paul getting mad at me, 'cause I have you running around and cooking food at 5 1/2 months pregnant."

The women laughed and I put my hands up in defense. "Alright, Alright, I'll just sit here."

After a few more minutes I finally remembered I wanted to see Erica. "Where's Erica?" I asked his mom. "I wanted to talk to her."

"She went down to the field with Mark and Joe a few minutes before you got here."

"Oh, I just haven't seen her in a while and-" "I can give you a ride down there" one of Paul's cousins offered.

"Its not that long of a walk" Sabrina said.

I glared at her.

"Thanks." I walked back to the front door and put on my boots with some assistance. We went outside and got in her car. The ride to the field wasn't that long.

Within a few seconds the men playing football begin to come into view. She parked her car on the side of the road and we got out.

Someone snapped the ball and then they were running around the field. I went and stood next to Erica. "You doing alright?" I asked her.

She turned to me, and sighed. "I could be better." I hugged her. "I'm here if you need to talk."

She smiled a small smile. "Thanks, it's been hard lately." I rested my hand on her shoulder. "It's going to get better."

We looked on as the men continued the game. The way the sun shone onto the snow made it so beautiful.

The snow-capped mountains clear in the background also made it a picture perfect moment. I'm not an outdoors person, but sometimes I liked standing back and looking at nature.

Paul ran up to us, breathing heavily, and holding a football. "You came to see me play?" I rolled my eyes at him. "No I came to play" I joked, taking the ball away from.

The smile left his face. "I'm just joking  Paul, you think I would actually want to play football?"

He didn't answer, but he kissed me passionately. I wasn't sure what the kiss was for, but I wanted it. He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me closer.
