Ⓦhen Chanyeol got back to Baekhyun after getting off work, they started walking next to each other as none of them spoke.

They eventually ended up in a park that was in the neighbourhood. "Shall we sit down for a minute?" the taller suggested as he pointed at the swings.

The pink boy nodded. "Okay."

Baekhyun sat down at a car-tire swing, and he thought Chanyeol would sit at the one next to him, but he actually sat on the same swing as him. He didn't say anything though, but he actually liked it.

They sat for at least five minutes in silence, but it wasn't awkward. It was an comfortable silence. The one where you'd just appreciate the presence of another.

But Chanyeol decided to finally speak up. "Did...something happen?"

It was obvious something had happened, but Baekhyun could tell the taller was nervous about him. He probably didn't want to be too straightforward. "Yeah."

"Do you want to talk about it?" he asked carefully.

Surprisingly, Baekhyun did want to talk about. He never wanted to talk about private life to other people, not even Jongdae or his other friends. But he did want to talk to Chanyeol. "It's..." he started as he carefully glanced up at the giant, who was staring at him warmly, patiently waiting for him. "It's my parents," he began. "Ever since I was a child, my parents had always been busy with work, so they were never home. We had a nanny when I was too young to be alone, but as I started middle school, I was old enough so the nanny was gone. And ever since then, I've been all alone. I rarely see my parents at all.

"During middle school it wasn't that bad. I had friends I spent time with, but we were going to different high schools, so I lost contact with them. And when I was a freshman, I started to fancy this one sophomore, so I confessed to him one day, but he rejected me. Luckily he promised me to keep it a secret, so I have no idea how you know about it," Baekhyun finished.

Chanyeol smiled warmly to him. "I happened to be just around the corner, so when I saw you two talking alone, I figured it was private and was about to turn, but I happened to hear your confession," he explained. Baekhyun nodded understanding. He just so happened to be there as well.

"It was a good thing it was you who heard it," Baekhyun giggled, which caught the other's attention.

"Why?" he asked.

"Well, you haven't told anyone, have you?" he smiled, and Chanyeol shook his head. "Exactly. You're the kind of friend who keeps secrets."

"So," the giant started, grinning, "you consider me as a friend?" Chanyeol's eyes were shining like diamonds. Baekhyun was sure his heart skipped a beat by how happy the other seemed by the thought of them being friends.

Baekhyun couldn't lie: he did want to be friends with Chanyeol, but he was afraid once they did form a friendship, it might rise to something else. Baekhyun might fall for the taller, and then he'd be rejected and heartbroken again. "Yeah," he gave in, "yeah we're friends." Chanyeol was grinning from ear to ear. "How come you so happy by that? I thought everyone at school hated me or something," he asked, frowning at the other.

"I like you," he grinned, "I never believed any bad rumours about you."

Baekhyun suddenly felt touched. He didn't know why he didn't dislike him or believe the rumours about him, but he was glad he didn't. Baekhyun started to like him more than he did before, and he was glad they could finally talk for real, and he wouldn't just be Mr Nerd to Baekhyun's eyes, but Park Chanyeol, a friend of Baekhyun's.

The next day at school Baekhyun felt happier than he had in a long time. The talk he had with Chanyeol the day before helped him a lot. He didn't feel as lonely as he did before. Even though he was surrounded by many people every single day, he always felt so alone, but he didn't anymore. Not now that he had Chanyeol by his side.

"You look better," he heard a voice commented to him. When the pink male glanced up from his phone, he saw Jongdae smiling towards him.

"I do feel better," he smiled back. For the first time it wasn't a lie.

"Did some specific happen?" he smirked and playfully nudged him on the arm teasingly.

Baekhyun rolled his eyes. "Actually, yes." At that exact moment, Baekhyun spotted the giant he repeatedly was thinking about by his locker, and ditched Jongdae immediately. "Chanyeol!"

The owner turned his head right away, and as he spotted the pink boy running towards him, his biggest grin widened. "Baekhyun," he grinned, "are you feeling any better?"

Baekhyun nodded. "Yup."

"I'm glad," he replied and got his books out. "Ready to continue our story?" he asked, holding up his English books.

Baekhyun's smile dropped immediately. "Shit, I had completely forgotten about it," he cursed, mostly to himself.

"We can work on it after school if we don't finish it today," he told the smaller male.

"If?" Baekhyun snorted. "I'm sure we won't be done by this class," he sighed.

"Don't worry, we'll make the perfect story."
