Arriving at<insert institute name here>, I park the car and stroll my way to the front desk inside of the ice cold building. It's almost as if I'm being completely normal or something. So weird without him here. It's strange almost. Like the suns light strength cut in half. Wow. I'm still being extremely depressing. Gotta work on them at. Anyway. What was I doing at a science institute? Oh right. Geology. Avalanches. Geology stuff. I approach the front desk with an attempted "calm" look.

"Um hi. My name is Venus and I was just wondering if I could possibly meet and talk with one of the highly experienced geologist here." I really hope she doesn't question anything.

"Well, usually we have appointments set up. But you're not a reporter or anything like that, are you?"

"No. Just someone wanting an experts knowledge on avalanches."

"Well why didn't you say so? We're usually not especially busy on Tuesdays."

"Thanks. You have no idea how important this is."

"So I can have you speak with Dr.Drisy. Her office is on the third floor; fifth door on the left side."

"Thank you!" I make my way over to the elevator.

As I'm standing in the elevator, I'm trying to think what I'll say. How does an ordinary person speak with an expert on something that's just plain science? Well maybe it'll be better if I just act natural. Yeah, I'll do that. *ding*. Alright, here we go. I step out g the elevator, not knowing what to expect.

Literally everything is gray. The floor. The ceiling. The doors. And no windows. Way to positive whoever designed this. Y'know just completely ignore the fact that natural light makes everything nicer.

I walk over to Dr.Drisy's office and hold up my hand to knock. I hope she's nice or something close to that. I lightly bang my fist on the door. The door creaked open. "Look John, I haven't finished yet. Just give me another week or so and I'll have the results. Don't bother me again unless it's an actual emergency." Well I see how this is gonna go. Dr.Drisy looked at me for a moment. "Oh my I'm so sorry. I thought you someone else. I'm sorry."

"That's fine. Um the front desk attendant said I could meet with you."

   "Oh ok-wait. You're not a reporter, right?"

"No just an ordinary person wanting some knowledge."

"Ok spill. Also I hope you don't mind the mess. It's been pretty hectic for me."

"I don't. You should've seen my house it's much worse." I began to give her the full story about the hiking and avalanche.

"Oh you poor thing. You must be very upset."

"I think I'm getting over it. Slowly."

"Anyway, so why'd you come here. People
with a story like that, I assume, would go to a councilor or something. Why us?"

"I was wondering if you or anyone else here knew if there was gonna be an avalanche there or if there were signs that it was near happening."

"Well I could go check with Gary. He's more in control of the information from past events and such. Give me a few  minutes."

"Ok." I stood there, wondering and hoping they had an answer. The door flew open.

"Here you go hon. It's a file record of the incident with multiple charts." I smiled.

"Thank you so much. You have no idea how pleased I am to get to look at this." I smiled. However Dr.Drisy looked tired and like she wanted me outta here. This whole institute seems really cold. I turned to leave.

"Wait." I stopped but did not face her.

   "Yes."

"You said your only friend in the world is gone, correct?"

"Uhh yeah..." I was very confused.

"Well if you had one friend and now they're gone, leaving you by yourself to roam the planet, you should find another friend."

   "Another...friend..."

"You don't have to find a replacement for your old friend but having someone else would really help lift your spirits. Trust me I know."

"Well, I guess that's a good idea. I mean, what do I have to lose?"

"Exactly." Dr.Drisy sounded very pleased giving advice.

"Well, I guess I'll be on my way. And thank you so very much!"

"Yes alright dear. Bye bye." She shut the door.

"Y'know that didn't go to bad after all." I stepped into the elevator. Time to head home I guess. I don't have to go anywhere else. Not today, at least.
