Sometimes, all Maine wanted to do was to stay at home. Everything seemed more simple there. She's content to just lay in bed, with RJ's arms around her, and just relax. But not today.
It was about time they stop running.
"Menggay?" a voice called out from outside the door.
"Menggay? Is everything okay?"
"Sorry, wait lang." She hurriedly went to the door and opened it.
"Yes? Is it time to go?" He was giving her that look again. The intense look full of love, desire, and passion. They'll never leave the room if he kept staring at her like that. "Stop giving me that look, RJ! Kakatapos ko lang mag-ayos."
Alden couldn't stop staring at Maine. She looked so radiant and beautiful. It was making him feel things...things that are better left unsaid in public. But what could he do? He couldn't help himself.
"Huy!" Maine said teasingly, interrupting his train of thought. "Tumutulo na laway mo! Ano ba!"
Alden burst out laughing before giving her a quick smile. Trust Maine to make a joke at a time like this. "Buti na lang talaga mahal kita! Mas malala ka pa kina Je mang-asar eh."
"Ehhhh," Maine said, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "Para kang ano..."
Alden raised his eyebrow suggestively. "Ano?"
"Basta!" She said, slapping him slightly on the chest.
"Sus, parang hindi ka na nasanay ha! Ulitin ko ba?"
"Tse! 'Wag kang ano," Maine said, heading out of the room and shutting the door behind her. "Mamaya na tayo humarot. Ayokong ma-late tayo."
"Sabi mo iyan ha!" Alden moved closer to her and kissed her cheek, placing an arm around Maine's waist. "Aasa ako."
They moved down a long hallway pausing in front of a pair of wooden double doors.
"We're here," Alden said. He glanced at Maine, wishing that they didn't have to do this. Sure, they suddenly disappeared a few months ago without telling anyone except their closest friends and family, but that doesn't mean that they owe other people an explanation for their decisions. It was their choice.
When Maine didn't speak, Alden grew worried. "Menggay? Okay ka lang ba?"
"Uhm...medyo kinakabahan lang," she said to his surprise. "What if everything falls apart after this?"
"It won't," he said reassuringly. "Besides, even if it does, I'll always be with you. We're in this together, okay?" She nodded silently, relaxing a little at that.
"Aren't you supposed to convince me otherwise?" she asked him. "You told me a few weeks ago that you'd rather live in peace than work as an actor again."
"I know. But you want this, Maine," Alden said, a smile tugging at his mouth. "You want to tell people why we suddenly packed our bags and left the country, and you know I can't resist you when you ask for anything.
At that, her smile broadened. "Can I just say that I love you so much?"
"I love you too," Alden said, choking on tears. The past few months with her had been magical. He was just a little scared that the peace they have achieved will be broken by the scathing reports and issues. He didn't want her to go through that again.
"Stop worrying about us," Maine said, pulling away for a few moments. "We're going to be fine. Ikaw at ako 'di ba?"
"Linya ko iyan ah!" He muttered, but she ignored him. Instead, she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and tugged him down for a kiss. He quickly pulled her against him, kissing her just as passionately.
After a few moments, he broke the kiss and smiled at her. "You know, dapat siguro pumasok na tayo bago pa kita hilahin papunta sa kwarto natin."
Maine's widened and then she laughed. "Sabi ko na eh. Ikaw talaga ang may cravings."
Alden shook his head exasperatedly, moving to open the door.
"Are you ready?"
"Yes, let's do this."
Heads turned when they both entered. They were met with a small crowd of reporters and journalists who looked as if they had seen ghosts appear out of thin air.
Maine glanced around the room, suddenly hesitating. Alden immediately took her hand, squeezing it to reassure her.
She nodded and then took a deep breath.
"Hello po," Maine told them. "Pinatawag po namin kayo kasi ...We have an announcement to make."
"Is this related to your disappearance?" one of the reporters called out.
"Yes. The truth is, we got married months ago...and I'm pregnant with twins," Maine announced before turning to Alden looked quite pleased with himself.
Immediately, their audience crowded around them, firing questions left and right. But the phenomenal couple didn't seem to notice.
They were too busy being happy in their own little world.
