Here's the plan: when the Stealer comes to take the eggs, he will find me covering them. Minx said that he would most likely run back to his building to grab an item that he uses to kill intruding animals. Before he reaches the building the horses will surround it; not allowing him to reach it. Minx said that he will either push through or run to the red building called a barn.

If he pushed through, then all the animals on the farm will surround the house in groups so he couldn't get back out. Maisy will try and distract and bother the stealer. If that doesn't work he would come back outside. Minx said he wouldn't risk hurting 'his' animals for a fox. The first line of defense are the chickens, then the pigs, the goats, the sheep, and lastly the horses. As he tried to get through each group, they would attack. Minx said that hopefully he would be freaked out and leave. If he didn't leave and made it back to me, Minx said I could either attack or flee.

If he ran to the barn, Minx said he would either grab the same thing that is in the other building which he called a gun, or grab an object used to cut down trees which he called an axe. The mice that live inside the barn would tell us which item he went for. If he grabbed the gun, the animals would do the same thing for if he went to the other building. If he grabbed the axe, the mice would attack him; doing whatever it took for him to drop the axe. Once he dropped it, the other animals would drag it outside. The mice would then stop and the other animals would force the stealer off the farm.

If all else failed, Minx told me to take the eggs and hide them until they hatched.

"Okay, everyone, understand the plan?" Minx asks. She hops off the red thing.

"How do we know Red over there won't want to hurt us?" the pig, Lenix asks Minx nodding at me.

"My name is Eliot, and I don't plan on eating any of you. But if you have a problem with Minx's plan," I say walking toward the pig with my teeth showing in an evil smirk, "Then I could make an exception."

Lenix squeals and runs behind the other pigs. "See? He wants to eat us."

"Oh please. Even I could tell that was a joke." Maisy says. She turns to me, "Right?"

"Yes, it was a joke." I assure them. "I would never hurt one of you."

"Told you. The Stealer should be back soon. We need to be ready. Everyone, spread out around the farm; Eliot come with me back to the pen."

Minx and I walk back to the pen in silence while the others prepare for the stealer.

"Lay here on the eggs," Minx orders.

I look at the small eggs. They look so fragile. "What if I crush them? In case you didn't notice, I'm not a chicken."

"Don't worry; they're stronger than they look," she reassures. "Just don't put to much weight on any one of them." Minx turns and goes toward the exit.

"Where are you going?" I ask.

"I'm going to meet up with the others."

I ask her to stay with me in the pen and she agrees. I couldn't live with myself knowing another baby animal got hurt because of me. Not after what happened to Ash.

Minx looks at me. Her beady, little eyes stare into me as if searching for an answer.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Why didn't you want me to call you Eli?" she asks.

"My kit brother called me that. Awhile ago we were outside the den because he wanted to practice hunting. Wolves attacked us and he ended up..."

"Oh. I'm sorry for your loss."

"No. No, he's not dead. He fell off a cliff and got hurt. My mom blamed me and kicked me out."

I think back to all the fun times me and Ash had. He was my little brother and now I'll never see him again.

"Well this is depressing. How about we talk about something less morbid?" She hops on one of the lower nest and lays down.

Quietly I say to her, "You're vocabulary amazes me sometimes." I lay down onto the eggs making sure not to crush them. "Okay, what do you want to talk about."

We talk for a long time. I barely even notice the tall silhouette standing in the exit. The figure grabs a block of wood from outside and throws it at me. Protecting the eggs and stay where I'm at. The log hits me in the head knocking me back. The world goes black.

My vision clears up and I see the figure and Minx are no longer there. Outside the pen, I can hear barks, clucks, oinks, neighs, and whatever sound sheep and goats make (idk, bahs). I walk through the exit and see multiple figures which I'm guessing were the Stealers.

I think back to what Minx had said about the Stealer not hurting "his" animals and look at all the animals on the ground. Slowly everyone falls to the ground as Stealers point sticks making loud sounds at them. Blood is covering the ground. I look around for Minx, but instead I find Maisy.

She is running towards me, yelling for me to get inside the pen. I do as she says and not to long after she enters, too.

"What in the world is happening?" I ask panicking.

"The Stealer came back with a herd of others. They're killing everyone." Maisy answers pushing me to the back.

"Why? How?"

"With guns! You know, those large sticks they're carrying."

"Where's Minx?"

"She's dead, Eliot! They're all dead." Maisy runs in circles then suddenly stops. "We have to go. Come on."

She bites my ear and pulls me. "What about the eggs?"

"There's no-" She stops as a Stealer burst in with a very large stick. He points it at us. Maisy and I coward back. BANG!

Sorry it took so long for me to finish this chapter. I had major writers block while in the middle of this chapter, but I figured out how to end it or rather leave it hanging.

Also, I wanted to ask you all if you wouldn't mind me putting human time units in the story. I've tried to stay away from using units of measurement but it actually is kind of hard. I would like to start using seconds, minutes, days, etc.

Anyway, thank you all so much for reading my story.
