"Just be me?" I ask.

"Yes. We need you to scare away what keeps taking our eggs." Minx jumps down to stand next to the other chickens. "It normally comes around this time to collect the eggs."

"What is it that keeps taking the eggs?" I ask. Why would something take the eggs? Why wouldn't it just kill and eat the chickens?

"Follow me." I follow her outside. She leads me to the barrier and then stops. She jumps through a hole in the barrier. I follow her, barely squeezing through.

"See that building?" What is a building, I think to myself. I don't bother asking her. "Inside there is a group of creatures. Much taller than us and most of the other animals, but about the same height as the horses."

"Hey, fox!" I jump at the sound of that deep voice again. "You better get away from that chick or we will-"

"Calm down, Legend. He's helping us get rid of the stealer by scaring him away." Minx says.

The horse who harassed me before is standing next to another barrier. He is black with a white spot on his forehead and at the bottom.

The horse laughs, "Right; because a fox can get rid of the herder. He won't be able to scare him away; he's too small."

"Hey, I'm right here," I say, annoyed.

"Don't you remember the last time a fox came onto the farm? He was able to stop him from taking the eggs for awhile, wasn't he?" Minx say as she walks toward the horse named Legend and jumps onto the barrier.

"How would you know? You weren't even alive then."

"The other chickens told me. Well, except for Jax." She turns to me and whispers, "The rooster."

"That's because Jax knew what really happened." Legend takes a step back and lowers his head to Minx's eye level. "The truth is that the herder didn't take the eggs because he needed more chickens. The fox that walked onto this farm, killed a lot and he was... repopulating."

"Oh." Minx looks down. After a while. her head pops up. "I still think he can help. But I have a new plan now."

I walk forward and place my front paws on the lowest part of the barrier. "What do I need to do?"

"I need everyone's help for this plan. What do you say, Legend? Will you and the other horses help get rid of the stealer?"

"Depends on what the plan is." Legend says.

"I'll explain later. Right now I need to get all the other animals on board."

"Okay, we'll meet behind the barn to discuss the plan. The herder just left and will probably be back soon so hurry." Legend walks down the barrier and opens part of it with his nose. The horses follow him out, and they all walk behind a red building.

Minx jumps down and begins walking toward the building. I begin to walk after her. "Follow me, Eli."

I stop, "It's Eliot, not Eli. The only person who called me Eli was my brother."

"Sorry. Let's go" Minx leads me toward the building the stealer lives in. In front of it there is a creature like me. My mom once described an animal like this which could either be taller or smaller than us. She called it a dog. The dog is laying down with its eyes closed.
