Quickly, I looked away from Aiden and down at my phone, more as a distraction as well as to hide my burning face. However, all I could do was stare blankly at the screen as my mind spun over what had happened over the past few minutes. AHH!
Me and Aiden? Kiss?
I just could not get over the fact of what we had almost just done. It was as if, starting the moment Aiden barged in through my door, we'd entered some sort of alternate reality where everything we did from that point on was the complete opposite from normal. I mean seriously? Me and Aiden kissing? I never would've seen that coming. Hell, just a few hours ago I'd thought I hated him!
Realizing I'd spent way too long staring at my phone and that I probably looked really stupid right now, I actually focused on what was on my phone. It had stopped ringing a few seconds after I pulled back, and when I looked at the screen I saw that it had one missed call as well as a new text. So I opened up the text, and immediately felt guilty when I saw it was from Luke.
hey i called earlier, but ur probably busy or something. just wanted to tell u how excited i am about our date tomorrow. :)
Crap. Now I feel really guilty. I mentally slapped myself and was about to start yelling out how stupid I was when I remembered Aiden was still here. He was watching me hesitantly, curiously, and I found myself blushing when a flashback of our almost-kiss. Trying to rid the atmosphere of the awkwardness I cleared my throat and said, "Hey, do you want to sit somewhere more...comfortable? We could go to the living room if you want."
He looked around us as if just noticing our surroundings as well as the fact that we were seated on the hard, tiled floor. Then he cleared his throat as well, his sounding much more gruff than mine, making me smile slightly.
"Uhh, yeah—that would be nice."
So I stood up, Aiden standing with me, and led him around the corner to my living room, gesturing for him to sit on the leather couch when we got there. He didn't hesitate to take a seat, but looked at me curiously when I didn't automatically follow after. For many reasons I suddenly felt nervous being here with him.
"Do you want a drink or anything?" I asked politely, feeling weird that I was asking a vampire if he wanted anything to drink. Some small part of me hoped he wouldn't misinterpret that as an offer for something else—A.K.A. my blood—but despite everything that had just happened, I oddly still trusted him enough to know he wouldn't actually think such a thing.
He smirked a little. "No thanks, Diana."
I blushed slightly at the look he gave me as well as his use of my name, to my mortification. However, I didn't want to give Aiden the satisfaction of seeing just how much he was affecting me right now, so I tried my best to act natural, and took a seat.
At the far end of the couch.
We both sat in silence for a few seconds before finally we both looked at each other and I blurted, "Look, Aiden—" but at the same time Aiden said, "Diana—"
We both smiled slightly at each other and said, again, at the same time, "You first."
God, this was so lame! I thought this sort of cheesy stuff only happened in the movies or books, but look at us now...
Finally, I just stopped talking altogether and gave Aiden a look that told him to go first. He smirked for a second before it dropped and he said, "Just wanted to ask if we could forget that the past few minutes happened. You know, starting with the...hug."
