Soon Jacob and Simon got to work. They went to the dumpster and collected items to build some sort of house/hut. Jacob found 7 old blankets, 3 blue pens and big pieces of wood. Simon found a stapler with a few staplers inside, and two notebooks. They were green and blue. Together, Jacob and Simon built their new home. Jacob used two blankets by folding it them up to use them as pillows. Then another two blankets as a mattress. They stapled together the wood and formed walls, creating a square shape, they left out the front bit of the square and put another blanket there as a door. Stapling it to the wood. They had 2 blankets left. They used it as a roof, they stapled it to the wood. Luckily Jacob and Simon found shelter to build there home because it started to rain, it started to hail!!
Once Jacob and Simon were done building their home, they had a mini meeting in the hut. They planned that in order to survive, they need food and money. They planned to apply for jobs and switch jobs halfway through the year. Jacob applied to be a newspaper boy. Simon applied to run errands for the dairy close by and in return they would give him food for Jacob and himself to share. They also thought about their education. Simon is quite smart. But Jacob isn't. Jacob has dyslexia. He hasn't told anyone about it. Nobody but Simon. Simon gave Jacob the green notebook. Simon knew it was his favourite colour. Simon liked the blue one anyway. Together they weote down thoughts, and ideas. Jacob knew it was going to be tough. So did Simon. They promised each other that they will do whatever they can to keep each other alive. Now that's friendship. Soon it got late. They went to bed. It was their first night in the hut. It was exciting!
