"Lauren, go get Dani from school. I don't feel like it," Christina ordered.
"But I'm hanging with Jade, can't Amy go get her?"
"No Amy cannot," said Amy as she walked passed the kitchen.
I rolled my eyes before I snatched Christina's car keys from the counter. After I ran upstairs to get Jade, I came back down and we hopped in Christina's truck to go get Dani.
Dani's P.O.V
"Are you sure your sister won't mind giving us a ride?" Ally asked for the third time.
"Yes, she's sure. Why do you keep asking?" Troye shot back at her.
Even though we had just met Troye, it had seemed like we'd known him forever. We got along with him really well. Wasn't too long before we started cracking jokes on each other and goofing around.
Lauren pulled up and she looked confused. Jade was in the passenger seat, smiling at me. I shook my head and walked up to the car and jumped in.
"Hey, Ally and Troye need a ride home. Ally lives on our street but Troye doesn't live too far away."
"Oh yeah I know Ally! Never met Troye though. He's cute."
"And gay, so stop being thirsty. Yall can get in the car!"
Ally and Troye slowly walked up to the car. They quietly got in and said hi to Lauren and Jade.
"So you're the Jade that Dani was talking about? Hi I'm Allyson. You can call me Ally."
"Hello Ally. Nice to meet you."
"I'm Troye. I just moved here."
"Hi, I'm still Jade. Nice to meet you," Jade said with a fake smile plastered in her face.
"Instead of going home right away, why don't we go to that place in the hills and have a mini party?" Lauren suggested with a smirk.
"I'm down. What about you guys?" asked Ally looking at Troye and I.
"I don't care. I'll just call my parents and tell them where I am," Troye answered.
"You already know I'm down," I replied.
Jade didn't say anything. She stared out of the window blankly.
"Uhm, Jade? You alright?" Lauren sounded a little scared.
She didn't say anything. She just kept looking out of the window, a blank look on her face.
"Jade!?" Lauren yelled at her.
"Huh? What? What happened?"
"We were gonna go to the hills, are you down?"
"Oh, yeah sure I am."
Lauren nodded and turned the car around and headed for the hills.
When we got there, it was a lot cooler. I always thought heat rose but it was really cool up here.
Lauren turned on some music and we all danced around, except Jade. She sat in a spot on the ground looking at us.
"You don't want to dance Jade?" Lauren asked while still dancing around.
Jade just shook her head and pulled her phone from her pocket.
Lauren shrugged and grabbed my hands and we started dancing together. Ally and Troye were jumping around and hollering like maniacs. I was trying really hard to have fun, but I kept feeling like I was being watched. And every time I looked at Jade, she was already looking at me. Seriously though, what the hell is up with her?
After our little jam session we had all went and got some food before Lauren dropped Ally and Troye off at home. After Lauren parked Christina's truck, she and Jade went next door to Jade's house to hang out. I immediately came home and ran up to Lauren and I's room and collapsed on my bed from exhaustion. Amy opened the door and came in, looking a bit concerned about something. I sat up on my bed and she sat next to me.
"Amy what's wrong with you?"
"Lisa can't find Charles. She won't stop crying and we all tried to help her find him, except Lauren. She's been with Jade all day."
"Oh man, she's not gonna stop crying unless we find him."
"I know. And I won't get any sleep tonight if we dont find him. She's basically wailing!"
I jumped from my bed and left the room. Amy followed and we both went into her and Lisa's room where Katherine was holding Lisa trying to comfort her.
"We're going to find Charles, Lisa, I promise," Katherine reassured her.
Christina came busting into the room with a horrified look on her face.
"I found Charles."
"You found my baby? Where is he?"
"Outside. In the shed."
Lisa jumped up and tried to run out of the room to go get Charles but Christina grabbed her.
"You can't see him Lisa! He's- Lisa he's- Charles is dead."
"Christina stop playing with me! This isn't funny!"
Lisa kept trying to leave the room but Christina gripped her arms tightly.
"Come on Amy and Dani, lets go see what Chris is talking about," Katherine ordered and we left the room with her; Lisa violently trying to escape Christina's grasp.
We made it outside and a horrible smell smacked me in the face. The closer we got to the shed, the stronger the smell got. Amy gagged and Katherine threw her hand over her nose and mouth as she swung open the shed doors.
"Oh my God!" Katherine yelled as she backed away from the shed.
Amy took one look and vomited. I stared in horror as Charles mangled, bloody body lay in the shed on top of a towel. His mouth and eyes were open; no life left in them at all. His once beautiful fur was matted in gooey blood and guts.
I heard fast footsteps approaching and I tried to close the shed doors but Lisa had already made her way over there.
"Lisa, NO!" I heard Christina yell behind her.
"Char- ahhhhhh! Oh my God!" Lisa yelled at the top of her lungs before she collapsed on the ground and started sobbing.
Lauren came running around the corner, a confused look on her face. She sprinted over to us and gagged once she saw Charles.
"What the fuck happened!? Who did this!?" Lauren screamed as she started to ball.
Christina was looking up at the sky, her tears sliding down the side of her face. Katherine was sitting on the ground now, coughing and sobbing. Amy was still trying to throw up but nothing but dry heaves came out of her. Lauren stood in shock as her tears slipped from her eyes. I scooped Lisa up in a hug and tried to drag her away so we could clean up the mess. She just kept insisting that "her baby" was okay and that we needed to call someone.
"Lisa he's gone! I'm sorry but he's gone sis!" I yelled over her but she kept pulling away from me.
"I swear when I went and looked in there earlier he wasn't in there," Katherine whispered.
I looked around, trying to find any sign of any animal or anything that could have done this. That's when I looked over at our new neighbor's house. A window was open and it was dark in the room. I could make out the figure of a woman standing there, watching all of us. She smiled and backed up into the darkness. That's Jade's house, was that her in that window?
