Hour 4

Hey! I was wondering if you’d like to come over today for my family’s Superbowl party?

Sure! What’s the earliest I can come over?

Ummmm… Is 4:45 ok?

                          Yeah! That’s fine.

Ok, also, what food are you bringing?

Oh yeah! Would pizza be ok?

Yeah! And don’t forget the Pepsi!

                                                                                            Lol. Ok. Cya there!

The conversation between Hope and Lilly was extremely brief. It was the end of January and the Superbowl was that weekend. Hope was having a huge get-together with most of their family friends.

“Come on dad! We have to go! It’s already starting hail at Hope’s house. We need to get going before the roads get too icy!” Lilly shouted. “Plus, we need to get a pizza and some Pepsi!”

Lilly gathered all of her sleepover essentials and school uniform for the next day into a large Captain America bag. She put on her black buckled high-tops and slung her black and turquoise backpack onto her shoulder. She exited through the back door leading to the garage, and opened the garage door. She walked up next to her mom’s white Honda Pilot and opened the passenger seat door. She grabbed her Algebra and American History textbooks. By now, the temperature had begun to drop and it started to drizzle. Lilly exited the garage onto the driveway and reached for the door handle to her dad’s black Escalade. When she pulled to open the door, it turned out the door was locked. She quickly covered up her books and bag, hoping no water would leak onto them and destroy any papers or her phone charger. Entering the house, she called for her dad to hurry up. He came shuffling through the hallway with a FIJI water in his right hand and his car keys dangling in his left.

Lilly’s P.O.V.

We pulled up to Hope’s driveway. It was still cold and rainy.

“Where is she?” I asked my dad.

“Oh. There she is!” my dad pointed out.

Hope cautiously came down her concrete driveway wearing skinny jeans, her black buckled boots, and a batman sweatshirt. You know, the one from Hot Topic? Anyways, she had her blonde hair teased (backcombed) up and her bangs swept in front of her left eye.

“Come help me with this pizza!” I screamed at her with a joking smile on my face.

I handed her the pizza box and Pepsi bottle while I grabbed my backpack, books, and overnight bag.

“Ok! Bye! Love you! Make good choices!” I heard my dad shout from the car.

“Love you too!” I smiled.

“Where do I put all this stuff?” I asked Hope.

“Um, we can just bring all of it in the house.” Hope replied.

We went through the rock path in her backyard and opened the back double doors.

“Hey Dad, look at what Lilly brought!” Hope smiled.

“Ooh. Nice!” he chuckled.

Hope put the pizza and Pepsi down onto her granite countertop and we headed upstairs toward her room.

Once we entered her room, I put my books and bag down on her wooden floor next to her bed. By this time, Hope was fixing up her hair and makeup in her bathroom mirror. I scanned her memory board and picked up an old photo strip of two girls.

“I can’t believe that was from 6th grade!” I smiled.

“I know right!” Hope laughed.

“Hey, can I borrow some of your makeup? I’m really counting on your older brother to have cute friends.” I laughed while putting the photo back.

“Haha, sure.” Hope grinned.

I applied a fair amount of black eye-shadow around my big blue eyes.

“How do I look?” I asked Hope.

“You look fine.” Hope replied. “Hey. Heather was supposed to come. Let me text her real quick.”

While Hope was texting Heather, Grant, Hope’s older brother, came in the room.

“Did you get Pizza Hut or Little Caesars?” he asked.

“Um, Little Caesars?” I replied.

“Ugh.” He slumped away.

“Does he not like that place?” I asked.

“No. He hates their pizza.” Hope laughed.

“Oh. Good.” I smiled.

“Ok, so Heather said she will be here in about thirty minutes.” Hope confirmed.
