--Faith--

I was spending most of my time with Dylan. He was really nice and funny. When we had to take a half a day detour in Santa Monica, he took me out to the beach, and then took me out for a nice lunch. We spent most of the time taking, and catching up with eachother. He kept telling me how much he loved me, and how he would never hurt me, ever. After we got back on the bus, he spent all his time with me, making sure I was happy. We had taken silly selfies together, and he was really making up for what he did.

We were now on the road for two days, and I was really happy with Dylan. All the guys had taken a liking to him. Since we only intended on having 6 people on the tour, we didn't have a spare bedroom for him. He ended up staying in my room. We slept together each night, and he wrapped his arm around me protectively. It was nice, and comforting.

--Cole--

I felt sick to my stomach. ever since I talked with Faith, and she broke up with me, there's been something off with me. I don't know what it is, but it's not natural to feel like this. I haven't eaten since we hit the road and that was a day and a half ago. I've just bee. In my bedroom the whole time.I've been thinking about how to make it up to her since we left New York. so far, I haven't gotten anythinng.

I wracked my brain, trying to figure it out something that she had said, that I could use to make it up to her. I checked the time to see that it was 12:39. I decided to make my way to the kitchen to get a drink. I slowly made my way out of my bedroom and to the kitchen. When I entered it, I saw Faith, and saw she had an envelope in her hands. Eventually, my curiosity got the better of me, and I stayed in the doorway, waiting to see what it was. She started to carefully open the envelope, and she pulled out a piece of paper folded in thirds. She opened the paper, and began to read aloud.

Here we go...

--
Faith--

I was sitting in the kitchen, rethinking the past few days. I sat at the kitchen island, and stared at the envelope in my hands. I spun it around in my hands, examining the wax seal on the fragile paper my mother had tried desperately to keep in mint condition. I carefully peeled away the wax, and pulled out the letter. I contemplated in my mind for a few seconds whether or not to read it, but I decided to.

I unfurled the paper, and began to read aloud.

"Dear Faith. It's me, your father. I was hoping that you would end up reading this. If you are, it's probably because I didn't make it. I hope you can forgive me for not being able to protect you from the harsh realities of the world. I just want you to know that even though I can't be there to support you physically, I will always be there when you look up to the sky. If you can forgive me for not being there, it would make my life that much easier. I don't know how old you are right now, but I know you are the most beautiful, strong girl out there. You know how I know that? Because I am watching and protecting you from up here. It's a beautiful place. Maybe one day, you can come join me up here. I'm waiting patiently for you. I don't know what your dreams and aspirations are, but I know that you will be able to achieve them if you believe enough. I remember when you were 3 years old, you looked up to the sky one night, and you said your first word. Star. When you look up and see the stars, I hope you think of me. And for every star in the sky, there is a reason I love you. If you ever need to talk to me, just look to the stars, and I will be there. I hope you're not upset that I left the earth before I could get to know you. My name is Michael James Winters, and I love you with all my being. I am 36 years old. I love your mother with every fiber of my being. And since you're reading this, I also passed away. I slipped away from you, taken from you by cancer. I'm so sorry I couldn't be there to see most of your first moments, like your first boyfriend. Your first job. You're first car. Your first prom. Your graduation. Your husband. Your children. Your life. I'm sorry I couldn't make it for you, but I hope you can make it for me."

-From, Your loving father Michael James Winters.

At this point, I was in tears. I refolded the paper, and slid it carefully back into its envelope. I sat at the counter, trying to process what I had just read. I twisted the envelope around, with the main flap still open, and a small slip of paper fell out. I picked it up, and unfolded it. It was a picture of him.

He was very handsome. He had a defined jawline, and bright blue eyes, like my mother had told me about. She said she could look into his eyes for hours, and find something else about them that she loved each time. His hair was a dirty blonde, a little darker than mine, but not by much. His smile was like no other. Just seeing it made you want to smile. In the picture, he was with my mother, at the beach, a little girl on his lap. I realized that the little girl was me. I smiled at the picture, then refolded it and out it back into the envelope.

I pressed the wax pack onto the envelope, resealing it. I wiped my eyes, and got up from the counter. I was making my way down the hallway in the darkness when I heard something in the living room. I slowly tiptoed into the living room, when I bumped into something.

"Sorry." I heard someone say shyly. Cole.

"Cole?" I asked, trying to confirm my thoughts.

"Uh, yeah. Hey Faith." He said, and I could just barely make out him getting up off the floor.

"How long were you standing there?" I asked, but before I could get a response, I felt him wrap his arms around my back, and he pulled me into a hug.

"I'm so sorry about your dad." Was all he said.

I didn't respond, I just nodded into his chest, and started bawling. The emotion finally hit me, and it hit hard. I just stood there bawling into his chest. Over my sobs, I could hear him whispering softly into my ear.

"Shh, don't cry, he loved you. He loved you."

I felt him stroking my hair lightly. I nodded again, and nuzzled myself even deeper into his chest. He hugged me tighter, and we just stayed like that.

Then it all turned south.

"What the hell are you doing with my girl, Pendery?" I heard someone say angrily as the lights came on.

Cole pulled himself away from me, and I noticed that he had been crying too. In front of him was Dylan, fists clenched. Anger was written across his face.

"Nothing. Sorry dude." Cole said with a shrug.

"You think I'm gonna believe that?!" Dylan replied, half yelling.

By this point, all the other guys were standing in the doorway, looking tired and confused.

"I was kinda hoping you would." Cole replied simply.

"Well I don't! Faith, what were you doing with him?" He spat, turning to me.

"Nothing." I replied nervously.

"Lies. Some pone better tell me what the hell is going on, or it's gonna get ugly!" He yelled, causing all of the guys to be snapped out of their tiredness.

"Alright alright. I hugged her, and told her I was sorry, so what." Cole said.

"Is that true?"

"Yeah, it is Dylan. Why are you being so uptight about it?" I replied, causing Cole to look at me shocked, like he didn't expect me to be so forward about this.

"Because he cheated on you. He cheated on you. With his ex. Baby, please." Dylan said, his anger fading to pleading.

"Baby?" Cole asked, looking at me.

"Dylan, I'm not your 'baby'. The only thing that happened was you kissing me." I said.

"He kissed you? And you let him, after what he did to you" Cole asked.

"Yeah." I said, ashamed.

"We were supposed to keep that a secret! You know I'm sorry about it." He said, his anger rising again.

"Why keep it a secret. Plus, I was trying to forget about the past. But if you're gonna freak out about a hug, then I don't know how sorry you really are. What if it was Dana, or Dalton?" I asked.

"Well, they're not cheating assholes like him." Dylan yelled, gesturing to Cole.

"He's not an asshole, and he supported me after you ruined my life! So I can hug him if I want to, and if you won't let me, then maybe you're the asshole" I yelled back at him, causing his anger levels to rise again, even higher than the last.

"Shut up, you bitch! I apologized to you!" He yelled, speeding up to me.

That's when hell broke loose. Dylan sped up to me, and grabbed me by the arm. He yanked me up on my tiptoes, so we were eye level, and held me like that, barely touching the ground.

"Let go of me!" I said, my confidence shaking when I saw the look of pure anger and hate in his eyes.

All the guys started to pour out of their rooms, trying to get me away from Dylan, but it was too late. He raised his hand, and hit me. I yelped, falling to the floor from the impact. I felt my face stinging profusely. I looked up tears blurring my vision, to see Cole grab his shoulder, and turn Dylan around. Before Cole could throw a punch, Dylan did, catching his right against his jaw. His head shot to the right, and he grabbed the couch for support.

"Cole!" I called, out, rushing to his side.

Before I could get there, Dylan grabbed my wrist, pulling me back. He yanked my arm up, and threw me to the ground. I whimpered as I hit the floor, shuffling away from Dylan as he walked over to me. He raised his hand again, and was about to hit me again. I covered my face with my hands, and whimpered again, but before he could hit me, Dana pulled his arm back, causing him to lose balance as Dylan spun around to face him. Dana obviously misjudged Dylan's reflexes, ending up with Dylan kneeing him in the stomach.,Dana groaned, before losing his balance, falling into the other couch, grabbing it for support. He had a split second of relief before Dylan came at him again, taking advantage of his keeling position. He grabbed Dana's shirt, and kicked him in the stomach again, and Dana fell to the floor. He groaned again, before curling up into a ball on the floor. I saw his eyes roll into the back of his head, before he exhaled, and passed out. "Dana!" I called out, but Dylan glared at me. He was about to come over to me again, but Gabe pulled him back

Gabe grabbed Dylan's t-shirt, kneeing him in the spine. I saw the look of pain on Dylan's face, but it was quickly replaced by one of anger, he spun on his heels, before getting hit across the face by Gabe. His head turned to one side, before he rebounded, grabbing Gabe's t-shirt, pulling him into his fist. He dropped to the floor, and tried to take out Dylan's leg, but he ended up getting lifted by his shirt and thrown into the ground. I gasped, when Dalton came in. He swung his leg out, and tripped Dylan. Dylan snarled ferociously, and tried to grab my ankle, but I pulled my leg in closer to me. Dalton lifted him from the ground, and managed to uppercut Dylan, causing him to stumble back. Dalton went in to get him again, but Dylan was ready. He grabbed Dalton's arm, holding it behind his back, twisting it further and further. A cry of pain escaped his lips.

"Dylan! You're gonna break his arm!" I yelled, but it was too late.

Dylan twisted just a little further, and there was a pop, and Dalton cried out in pain, before falling to the ground. Then Will jumped in, pulling Dylan back by his hair. He kneed Dylan in the gut, before pulling him up and getting him swiftly across the jaw. Dylan sprang up, catching Will in the side. He groaned, and held onto the couch for support. Dylan swung, but Will ducked, grabbing Dylan's arm. He twisted it back, causing Dylan to wobble slightly. Before he fell, he kicked Will in the stomach, and Will let him go, keeling over. Dylan fell, but got back up. He grabbed Will by the fabric of his hoodie, pushing him across the room. He stumbled back, before hitting his head against the wall. He slumped down the wall, knocked out.

"Dylan! What the hell is wrong with you?!" I yelled out angrily at him.

He swiveled on his heels, turning to face me. He started walking up to me, and I shuffled across the floor, trying to get away from Dylan. As luck would have it, my back hit the wall, and Dylan was standing over me. He raised his hand to hit me, and I threw my arms up to try and protect myself. I shut my eyes, trying not to look at his hand come down on me, but it never came. I opened my eyes to see Cole punch Dylan right across the face, knocking him out.

I curled into a ball, and laid on the floor. I felt a pair of arms wrap around me, lifting me off the ground. I nuzzled myself into their chest, and I recognized it as Cole. I felt tears start to slide down my cheeks as he laid me on the couch, him next to me.

"I'm sorry I couldn't protect you." He whispered, wiping the tears from my eyes.

"But you did. You stopped him from hurting me. Don't be sorry." I said, nuzzling into his chest. Eventually, I drifted off to sleep, Cole's arms wrapped around me protectively.

Right before I drifted to sleep, I heard Cole whisper.

"I'll always protect you."
