John

It had been a month since Clarke moved in and we'd barely spoken. I gave her a key and told her where my schedule was in case she had friends or dudes over, but really we didn't talk much. When I was home, she was usually out and came home late, or she was in her room. It was kind of like living with a ghost. You knew she's there, but you never saw her. Until I decided to have a small gathering.

"Hey, Clarke? Are you home?" I called as I walked into the apartment holding our mail.

"Coming!" I heard her call. I started separating our mail as I heard her making her way into the living room. "What's up?"

I turned to face her, slightly upset at how cute she looked. She was wearing pajamas, her hair in a bun, but somehow she just looked.. cute. Anyways. "Hey, is it okay if our friends come over tonight? I figured we could bring back the ritual movie night, if you were up to it. Obviously, uh, someone isn't invited."

She smiled at me. "Honestly, that sounds good. I've been such a recluse this past month. Do you want me to order some food and drinks? I'd go get them, but I've got to fix myself," she laughed.

"I'm going to run downstairs and grab the movies and I'll go ahead and call in the food. Is there anything in particular that you're craving?"

"Hmm, normally I'm all about pineapples, but tonight I think I want buffalo pizza with bread sticks. And Dr. Pepper to drink. Let me grab my wallet," she said as she walked away. I dialed the pizza place a block over and started ordering. When she came back she slid something in my pocket and sauntered off. I was glad she was actually happy about tonight, I'm glad she was smiling.

"Hey, this was a good idea," Wick said. "She's acting like herself again. What'd you do?"

I looked over at her, laughing along with Raven and Maya. "Honestly, today is the first time we've said more than ten words to each other. I just gave her her space. She needed to mourn, she needed to find herself." I shrugged.

"Well, space worked then. I'm going to go start a movie."

I walked into the kitchen and threw my plate in the trash. That buffalo pizza was a smart idea.

"Alright, everyone shut your pieholes!" Wick called out. "It's movie time! We got action, girly, or scary. Vote people!"

"Girly!"
"Action!"
"Scary!"

Everyone called out a different pick.

"Alright, scary wins because I said so!" Wick laughed. All the girls sighed collectively. "Grab your dudes and cuddle because this movie is supposed to be amazing!"

Maya sat in Jasper's lap and Raven sat between Wick and Clarke. I stood in the kitchen, watching everyone sit. It's times like these that make you realize being single in a group of couples isn't so fun.

"John! Come on," Raven called. The only spot available was beside Clarke, so I sat down, trying not to suffocate her on the small couch.

The movie was full of jump scares and terrified shrieks from the girls. Wick laughed at them repeatedly. When the movie was over everyone decided that it was late. We said goodbye to everyone and Clarke and I cleaned up the place a little.

I took the movie out and put it back in it's case. "Are you heading to bed?" I asked Clarke. She was just sitting on the couch, watching me.

"What, uhm, what girly movie did you rent?" She asked quietly. I looked down at the case.

"Uhm, Leap Year. The lady next to me said it was good." I handed her the case to browse over. "Do you want to watch it?"

"Yeah." She sighed. "But I can keep the volume down, so you can sleep. I can't sleep after scary movies, I know it's ridiculous but I psyche myself out and I just can't."

"Well, I'm not sleepy yet. Do you mind if I watch it with you?"

She smiled. "That's fine with me."

I started the movie and went to grab some extra blankets for us. I changed into my pajamas and came back to find Clarke had done the same thing.

She sat in the middle of the couch and I sat on the side, just enough room to make it not so awkward between us.

A few times in the movie, Clarke's mind seemed to be elsewhere, maybe thinking of her ex. I couldn't be sure. But, every once and awhile, she would smile at the movie. I was so glad she was getting back to normal. She was so much happier and brighter before she moved in with Bellamy.

"That was such a cute movie," she said when the credits rolled. "You picked a good one."

"Thanks," I laughed. "I have just old regular movies if you're not sleepy yet?"

"Yeah, surprise me. I'll be right back," she said as she hopped up and walked into the hallway. I put in Pirates of the Caribbean, figuring she loved these movies, like any sane person.

"Is that Pirates I hear? Oh my gosh, I love these movies. Which one is it?" Clarke asked as she walked back into the room, her make up washed off.

"It's the fourth one," I smiled.

"My favorite. Sam, the guy who plays the clergyman, is so my future husband! And who doesn't love mermaids?"

I laughed. "Well, I'm glad I picked a good one."

About halfway through the movie, it was two in the morning and Clarke was dozing. She would catch herself falling asleep and wake back up. I smiled to myself. I grabbed her arm and pulled her towards me. She scooted over and we turned on our sides to finish the movie. She was out within seconds.

When the movie ended, I eased myself up off of the couch and out the extra blanket on top of her. Why in the world Bellamy threw her away, I will never know. But, I hope we can get back to being friends, I hated being on the outskirts of her life.
