Chapter 9

~~~ Someone calls the shots ~~~

   It was team Jizzie and team Mali. Basically, team me and Joel, and team Oli and Maddie. Maddie had began to date Oli, and she got furious when she found out of the prank and the 'horrible' things I did to Oli. She began to become her mean, cold hearted, bloodcurdling self again.

   It was weird, having my sister date Oli. I mean, me and Oli had a pretty bumpy...cross.

   "Yammy!" I yelled, walking along the sidewalk of my house.

   "Lizzie! I feel like we haven't talked in YEARSSSSS!" Yammy exaggerated. I laughed.

   "Listen, yams, I have a favor to ask." I sipped my coffee real quick.

   "Ready? Set? Shoot!" She teased.

   "Can you stop over at Oli's and check in on Maddie? She hasn't come home and I know she's over there. It would mean the world! Please Yams! Please please please!" I begged. I could hear her sigh.

   "Okay, okay! Fine! I'll do it." Yammy gave in.

   "Omg Yammy thanks your the best!" I silently did a boo yah!

   "No probs. Me and Laur are heading to see Toy Story 4. You in?" She added.

   "Yammy you know I'm busy." I shook my head.

   "But Lizzie! We're your BFFS!" She peppily exclaimed.

   "I'll see. Maybe." I shrugged. I heard her scream.

   "Love you girl! Talk to ya later! Love ya! Mwah!" I heard her yell and blow a kiss into the phone.

   "Mwah!" I exaggerated and laughed. I started to walk up our driveway and hang up.

   Beep beep!

   I turned around to see Joel.

   "Hey Lizzie!" He waved and stopped in front of my house. I skipped down to the bottom of my driveway. Joel rolled down his car window.

   "What's shakin?" He asked.

   "Nothing much. Yammy and Lauren want me to go see Toy Story 4 with them. Is that okay? I know we were supposed to see that together." I looked down.

   "Lizzie Lizzie, Lizzie! Don't be silly. I'm not holding you back from anything. Go have fun. We can see another movie another time." Joel laughed. I shrugged and smiled.

   "Thanks, Joely!" I teased and blew him a kiss.

   "What was that? And you think I'm the one who's not smooth!" He yelled and grabbed my cheeks from the window and kissed me. I had to catch myself before I tumbled into the side of his car. I kissed him back.

   I pulled back and blushed.

   "Your kawaii when you blush." He added and rolled up his window and drove away. He waved as he went. I waved back.

Lauren was picking me up to go to the movies when Maddie texted.

   Maddie: Look up ;)

   I screamed and started to run as someone threw water balloons at me.

   "Stop! Stop!" I yelled as I ran to the sidewalk. It was dark, and I didn't bring a flashlight. I ran out of breath and stopped, when I realized they weren't water balloons. They were paint balloons!

   Maddie: I hope you like the color yellow!

   "MADDIE!" I screamed. Lauren's car passed right by me, and I was a sticky yellow mess. I quickly called her on my phone.

   "Lauren! You just passed me! I'm yellow paint!" I blurted out.

   "What?" Lauren asked confused.

   "Long story, come back!" I cried as cars passed me.

   "Oh my gosh Lizzie!" Lauren yelled and I could hear her car skid through the phone.

   "Yeah! Please!" I begged starting to tear up. How could Maddie and Oli do this!

   I hung up and Lauren so I could text Joel.

   Lizzie: Joel! Maddie and Oli are after us!

   Joel didn't respond. That was unusual. He had set a ringtone to always answer my texts, in case I was in trouble.

   "Lizzie! Hop in!" It was Lauren. I smiled and sighed.

   "Thanks, Laur." I hopped in the back of the car.

   "So what happened?" She said making her way to the nearest store to get me new clothes and fast.

   "Maddie and Oli are out to get me and Joel." I replied, texting Joel once more.

   "Oh wow. I haven't heard from Joel in a while. I tried texting him earlier if he wanted to come. Huh." She shrugged and pulled over to the parking lot.

   "Yeah..." I said my voice trailing off. Where was Joel?

   "That was amazing! I'm so happy we did this!" Yammy yelled and hugged both me and Lauren. I laughed.

   "Yeah! It was good to get my mind of things." I added.

   "Glad to get out of the house. My stupid brother is just...yeah. You don't want to know!" Lauren laughed.

   "Hey Lizzie? Your phones beeping." Yammy nodded towards my pocket.

   "Oh!" I jumped and grabbed my phone. It was a voicemail from an unknown number.

   "It's a voicemail from a number not in my contacts." I said aloud.

   "Well don't click it!" Lauren squealed.

   "No! Do it!" Yammy encouraged. I clicked the button.

"Hey um...Lizzie? It's Joel. I was thinking it would just be best...if we um...I don't want to hurt your sister or you...I'm moving on. Bye." The voice mail ended.

   "He's gone!" I screamed and started to cry hysterical.

   "What?" Yammy and Stacey both asked.

   "L-l-l-listen!" I cried shoving my phone in their hands.

   "I still don't understand." Yammy proclaimed.

   "Joel just...dumped me." I said heaving.

   "Oh Lizzie..." Yammy covered her mouth and started to hug me. Stacey did the same.
