Chapter 8

~~~ a sticky mess ~~~

It was the night of the prank. Okay, yes, that sounded totally cheesy. But it was the night of the prank!

I was in the middle of texting Maddie when the doorbell rang.

"Helloooo?" I echoed out into the night sky. No one was there. Those dang ding-dong ditchers!

While I was in the middle of closing the door, I heard a scream. I opened the door immediately. What on earth was going on?

I stepped outside and started to run along the sidewalk of our house. I definitely heard a scream, and it sounded like Maddie!

After 10 minutes I walked back to my house. I didn't see anything unusual. Besides, Maddie went to Oli's house. Those 2 have been hanging out a lot. Strange.

"He was all then like, 'I refuse! Me and her aren't friends!'" Maddie mimicked. I laughed.

"And I was, 'like heck yeah you are!' and then I texted you to come." Maddie finished and bowed. Oli, or Maddie, had invited me over to collab and play Fibbage. It's basically a game of lies. Just what this group needed.

"No way." I laughed, closing the fridge. I was making pancakes for dinner. If there was one thing we both had in common, it was pancakes for dinner. It was sort of a tradition.

"Yeah huh!" She squealed. I giggled.

"What's up guys? Smallishbeans here!" Joel announced as he knocked on the open front door.

"Maddie! You didn't close the door!" O sighed and shook my head. She blushed and shrugged cutely.

Joel came over to me and kissed me on the cheek. I kissed him back with my lips full of powder.

"Eeee-yuck!" Joel said as he wiped the powder of his cheek. Maddie had been recording the whole thing, and she posted it to snapchat.

"Maddie! You better not have posted that!" I yelled, my eyes getting big.

"20...30..300!?" She joked. She began to ran around the house with her phone.

"I'll save the day!" Joel yelled heroically and started to run after my little sister. It was nice having Joel and Maddie be able to get along. I added the chocolate chips into the batter.

I heard giggling from upstairs and a squeal.

"Joel! Joel! Put me down!" Maddie squealed squirming. Joel came into the kitchen with Maddie in his arms like a baby. I burst out laughing.

"Does baby Maddie want a blueberry?" I announced, going into the fridge. Maddie immediately began to fidgit.

"Joeeeeeeel! Stopppppp!" She squealed once more, shaking her head. I got a single blueberry out of the fridge and popped it in her mouth. She spat it out back on me.

"Hey!" I yelled wiping the blueberry off my apron.

"Ha." She smirked. Joel put her down, but he had successfully deleted the video.

"Here!" I yelled pelting some chocolate chips at her. She screamed.

"You wanna play like that?" She raised her eyebrows and started to chuck sliced bananas at me.

"MADDIE!" I laughed as I tried to dodge banana slices. She wasn't laughing.

"I think you would make a nice sundae, Lizzie!" She yelled and took out the whipped cream and started to spray me. Joel tried to stop her, but she sprayed him too.

"MADDIE! Stop! This isn't funny anymore!" I strictly applied.

"Chocolate syrup? Yes please!" She cackled pouring more over us. We become all sticky, it was horrible!

"MADDIE!" Joel yelled at her and tried to scoop her up again. She was so immature.

"Ice cream! Ice cream! We all SCREAM for ice cream!" She laughed as she poured our gallon of vanilla ice cream both on me and Joel. Me and him both screamed, not because we wanted ice cream, but it was freezing cold and sticky! My pink hair now looked more like...brown.

"Ha, ha!" Maddie smirked. "And, who needs cherries when you can get this!" She yelled and grabbed Joel and kissed him. I fell back onto the kitchen table.

"Take that for payback. Don't mess with my boo." She warned and grabbed her purse and slammed the door as she went out to the car. Her boo? Well, this means war.

After I let Joel shower, I went into the shower. Joel had agreed to track down Maddie's 'boo'.

"LIZZIE!" Joel yelled and ran into the bathroom. I jumped. I turned towards the wall, away from Joel. I turned a bright pink.

"Oh, right, um, sorry." He added and back out.

"Did you find her, him?" I asked as I pulled the shower curtain.

"Yeah, and you won't wanna believe this."

"It's Johnny."

"Nope."

"It's not Oli..." I asked.

"Bingo." He said.

"OLI IS DATING MY SISTER?!" I screamed.

"I mean, she's pretty, she's a good kisser..." Joel trailed off. "But she's not as good as you." He fixed his mistake.

"Thanks." I said sarcastically.

"Sorry Lizzie." He apologized. "I'm going to get out now." He added.

"Okay. Thanks for the help." I sighed and pulled the shower curtain back. I saw Joel close the door. My sister was dating Oli. I took the fastest shower in the world after that.
