Depression paced about the spiritual air as he watched seeds of truth drop and sink into the woman's heart.
The seeds resembled little grains of light that drizzled on a parched soil of her soul. He looked on in mortification as the woman leaned forward and paid rapt attention to the man's words.
"This is not happening...this is not happening." Depression mumbled as he squinted at the bright light of the saint.
"Of course it's happening," Mahgot said nonchalantly as she inspected her needle-like nails.
The meddling spirit was the only imp present with him. She had insisted on following the woman everywhere and there was nothing Depression said or did that deterred her. So now, she sat cross-legged on the air and mocked his every move.
"The words are being planted right before your eyes, yet you choose to comfort yourself by denying the fact? How pathetic." The green imp scoffed as she rolled her bulbous eyes and shook her head.
"Before you scoff at me, think of your assignment. Mind your business, Maggot." Depression snarled at her. He was sick of her constant jabs at his abilities.
"Just look at her. See how she's listening with rapt attention? She is very close to the light, I tell you. In no time she'll become one of them!" Mahgot said hotly as she pointed at the saint seated across the woman.
"No! You don't know that! You came here to sabotage me, didn't you? What is it you want? I thought your only duty was to keep her doors shut at the accident. Your work is done, leave!" Depression shouted. The veins on his head throbbed painfully when he heard Mahgot laugh.
"I'm going nowhere. You think Therebinth sends his imps for nothing? It's always a power tussle and show of strength among the princes. I intend to take this soul for my master. If the light wants her so bad, so does the darkness." She chuckled darkly before continuing.
"I think you should step aside and let me handle things from here." Before Depression could reply, Mahgot swooped down in a blink and slapped both palm over the woman's ears. He watched as the imp's fingers morphed into vines that passed through the woman's ears and attached itself to her brain like parasitic roots.
"Enough of this nonsense. Tell him you have to go." Mahgot commanded the woman.
.....................
Ken felt it immediately, it was like a shifting. Margret's clear amused eyes suddenly turned unfocused then cold. Something felt very wrong and different, he could see it in her general countenance.
"Mr. Ken, I think you should leave now," Margret said in a flat tone.
"Is everything alright?" Ken asked as he looked at her warily. He could almost swear he saw hate in her eyes. What just happened? He gripped his son's hand as he stood.
"I'm fine. I just realized I am running late for a certain function I have to attend."
Her voice sounded hollow and there was something about her eyes...they looked almost green."Okay. So sorry for keeping you but I'm not sorry I ran into you today though," Ken said with a small smile before leaving the consulting room with his son.
"Daddy, I don't think she's happy. Does she have Jesus?" Bodunde asked as he skipped along the corridor.
"I don't know what is wrong with the doctor but I trust Jesus has her."
Ken lifted his son when they reached the parking lot. He knew Bodunde wasn't feeling fine but being the kid he was, he'd just keep jumping about like a crazy monkey until he's held down.
