After Mahgot forcefully took over his assignment, Depression headed straight for the woman's house. He knew there was no way he would survive Bermuda's wrath if he let Mahgot take the soul of the woman. When he burst through the door, he saw that the imps could already feel his distress. They surrounded him immediately and waited for his command.
"The one they call Mahgot thinks she can do as she likes. Bermuda is our prince and we would present that soul to the grim reaper with his name stamped on her! We would crush anyone who tries to get in our way. My brothers, this is what I want you to do..."
When Depression was done giving instructions, he waited. He had too much at stake to just let Mahgot ruin his plan.
Every single imp had sunk into their hiding places and Depression knew he had to keep her from noticing their presense immediately. Though Mahgot was aware that he had a lot of imps under his command, she didn't know how large the number was. That was a surprise he was banking on.
When he heard the woman open her front door and walk in, Depression narrowed his eyes at the green imp still fused to her soul. He watched the woman sigh tiredly, drop her handbag on the floor then mutter under her breath as she walked to her kitchen.
Choosing to act quickly, Depression swooped down and stared into Mahgot's eyes.
"Leave," he commanded her through gritted teeth.
The imp remained attached to the woman like a parasitic twin. What annoyed Depression the most was the satisfied smirk on her face.
"What if I say I wouldn't?" Mahgot asked as she challenged him with her eyes.
Depression's fury grew as he glared at her. He had never fought over a soul before but the idea was beginning to look good to him.
"For weeks you've had her but you did nothing with your time. You let angels of light swoop in and rattle you senseless. I am a suicide spirit! This is what I do. In a few days, this woman would be hanging from a rope. I will deliver her from your senseless delay!" Mahgot spat as more vines sprung from her small frame, dug into the woman's heart and squeezed. Immediately, the woman began to cry as she placed some leftover in a microwave.
Depression watched as the vine retrieved seeds of truth and extinguished them. He allowed Mahgot to kill the seeds, there was no need fighting what would eventually work in his advantage.
The seeds that had already taken root were impossible to remove but that didn't bother him. What he had planned for the woman was so swift, even those little sprouting truth would be too weak to fight it.
When he saw Mahgot had extinguished the last seed of truth, Depression acted fast. He gripped her shoulder, sunk his claws deep and tore her off the woman like a bandage.
Mahgot shrieked in pain and surprise as she looked from the green liquid pouring from her shoulder to Depression's face. Her expression was a hideous mixture of rage and agony.
"Wrong move," She snarled as vines shot out of her body like wild roots. They floated about her like headless snakes ready to strike.
Her large green eyes widened a bit when she saw a number of imps slinking out of their hiding place. Depression knew Mahgot had no idea just how many imps Bermuda had assigned to him. It satisfied him to no end when he saw doubt flash in her eyes.
"Look around you, Mahgot! Do you think it would be wise to lay claim on a soul when you're clearly outnumbered?" Depression asked. He saw Mahgot look around again and sneer at the crowd of imps that was rapidly closing in on her.
"One word from me and they'll send you back to Therribinth all bruised and broken. Its either you submit to me or go back to your master."
"What's the use? I'll still be bruised and broken even if I join you. I refuse to submit, you incompetent boob! Come at me!" Mahgot shouted as her vines encircled the closest imps they could reach. The green ropes constricted them and slammed them about wildly.
