Sticking on the Trail is The Hard Part

"Listen guys, if you come in here again, I'm going to have to suspend you Shiemi. And Rin, you'll get two weeks off of school." "Sounds good to me but I can't let you suspend Shiemi. We're doing some serious dating so that would kind of ruin it." Rin said bluntly. "Oh please Rin. I know you guys aren't together. How dumb do you think I am? You set her up to go in the palace so you can get your fighting in and be the hero. We still don't know for sure if the---" "Shuuurrrra!!" Igor shouted. "Get in here now!!" "Ugggh, I hate him." Shura said. Shura ran off to join Igor, then Shiemi looked up at Rin. "Rin, what do you mean?" "We hang out a lot." He smiled. She looked at him with confusion. Then she smiled. "I trust you to get us through this. You've always been someone I could look up to." Shiemi said calmly. Rin wasn't listening at all. He was trying to figure out a way to get in a different entrance without being caught. "Guess what? I think I know where we can go. Follow me..." Rin eagerly said. "Okay." Shiemi said trustingly but not quite ready for a fight. They rolled out of the group and around the palace. There was a giant stone door in the back but it didn't have knobs or anything to grab onto and also no hinges. "Maybe, there's a password." Shiemi suggested. "Pfft Magic?" Rin replied. "Maybe the password is The Demon Temple of Tokyo." Suddenly, the door slowly opened once Shiemi said that last sentence.  "Nice going Shiemi. We've got this already. I'm ready. We're gonna  defeat the Tree Demon with one big blow." He looked at her. "Be careful because this place is supposed to be full of traps." Shiemi warned Rin. They walked in and started on the dark grey marble path. The walls were covered in green ivy and there were little copper jewels on the ground. It was a narrow path with some sharp turns and dead ends. They walked for a while ending up nowhere. "Um, why is it all steamy feeling? It's starting to get really hot." Shiemi said. She jumped. The ground started shaking a bit then harder and harder. Large cracks started appearing in the ground. "What the?" Rin gasped. Lava showed from under the floor and it got too hot to bare through the ground. "We should probably run." Shiemi exclaimed and Rin nodded. They grabbed each other's hand. Shiemi screamed. Rin could handle the heat much better than Shiemi. They ran through the cracking halls and finally turned sharply into a clear path. The wall they came through shut behind them. Forcing them to move forward. It was very foggy but seemed a lot safer than the path before. They both slowed down and took a break. "Are we going to be okay? I'm starting to get scared, Rin." "Oh please, we're not gonna die. I'm powerful, okay?" Rin reassured Shiemi.
"Um, Rin?" Shiemi looked down, biting her lip and started to cry, trying to hold it in. "Don't die, okay? Even if I am in trouble because I don't matter as much." He sat down with her and put a thumbs up. "Alright!" He jumped up and pulled Shiemi with him. They continued on the path, very near to each other as there was no other hope for survival.
