As Karn slowly felt his eyes open he inhaled a cold sharp wind that made his lungs feel like they were going to burst. He tried to move his arms and legs but they felt like they were frozen stiff, that's when a masked figure approached him and knelt beside him. "The rigamortis will wear off in about five minutes or so" said the masked figure. Karn just layed there and tried to remember what happened to him but he only remembered the white angel type creature that carried him away in his final moments.
After laying there Karn could feel his arms were working again so to were his legs. He slowly got up and that's when he felt the cold chill of death down his spine. 'Come death knight. I have raised you as my own and you will obey.' the voice said to him in his mind. Slowly Karn started to walk the halls of this massive mysterious structure he was in. It was there he witnessed the horrors of necromancy.
He saw ghouls being raised from their death and skeletons hammering away at forges. He saw the ones that were deemed unworthy for service being cut down and ripped to peices by ghouls. He saw massive constructs that looked as if they had been stitched together from atleast a dozen body's. But what Karn thought the worst of all this was. He felt absolutely nothing. Nothing but the frigidness of death.
Then as he approached the top of the stairs he saw him. The king of death himself, the jailor of the dammed, The Lich King. Immediately Karn dropped to his knee and bowed before him. 'You are here because I deemed you worthy to fight in my name, you will spread chaos and plaque wherever you walk, you will sow destruction in my name, and you will bring fear to all who see you. My chosen knight.' the voice said in his head.
At that moment Karn rose and headed back down the stairs. He walked to one of the many weapon racks spread across the massive room. He chose a sword that was sitting against the wall and not on a rack. Then with sword in hand he plunged it into the icy fires of the rune forge. As he pulled the blade back out it had changed entirely.
It was now as sharp as the finest sword ever crafted. And unholy energies surged through the blade. In the bladeguard was what appeared to be a massive blue eye with a lightless pupil in the middle. This runeblade was now Karns and he would carry it forever. Then once again the voice penetrated his mind.
'Now my knight, come and behold what I have planned for these lands below and all the people in them.' quickly Karn ran back up the stairs and peered into the eye of Acherus and he saw all the death and destruction that would befall all the people in the lands below him. Once again he felt nothing for these people. Then the Lich King gave Karn a parchment and told him to speak with Darion Mograine.
As Karn was making his way down the keep he was stopped by instructor razuvious, "You have not yet tested your blade death knight. Go into the pit and unlock one of the unworthys chains and kill them." So Karn took the key and dropped into the lower level of the floor. He glanced around at all the prisoners who were deemed unworthy for service.
But then one caught his eyes for a moment. A young night elf girl, with long flowing white hair and a smooth face. Karns eyes went wide for a moment before the night elf raised her head and spat at Karn. Then Karns eyes narrowed again. It was not her, so Karn moved on to the next one. He finally choose a human who appeared to be quite fit.
But once the fight started Karn smashed through the humans blade like it was simple stone. And he spilt the humans skull into two. Razuvious was pleased with Karns work so he sent him on his way as the ghouls feasted on what remained of the human. As Karn stepped into the purple eye he felt light on his feet then he felt normal again as he was teleported to the lower halls of Acherus he quickly ran over to Darion who was seated ontop of his deathcharger.
Karn handed him the parchment and Darion read over it. Then he let the letter fall to the ground and he grabbed the horn at his side and drew a deep breath then he blew into the horn which shook the very walls of Acherus. Then Karn felt the ground shaking and hordes of undead rising from the ground. He saw them all head towards the Scarlet enclave and at this point he knew that the end would soon be upon all those people, for none were spared the Masters wrath.
After many hours of seiging the keep the town was overrun and the only hope the people had left was fleeing the land by boats, but even those were not safe. And soon the last battle would be fought at lights hope chapel. But the Lich King spoke to Karn, 'You will come with me death knight for your destiny is greater then theirs' with that a portal was opened up infront of Karn and he stepped into it.
On the opposite side of the world a druid and a paladin were given orders to board the first ship heading to Northrend. "Hey Usileth i got out packs ready to go." Said the paladin. "Thanks Whitlock." Said Usileth while starring off into the distant ocean. "Is everything ok Usileth? Your being very quiet today." Whitlock commented, "I'm fine, just thought I felt something happen." Usileth said while grabbing her bag and heating towards the ship.
Whitlock stared at her in concern but soon followed with his bag. They boarded the ship and soon were sailing towards Northrend. But Usileth just couldn't shake the feeling something horrible was coming her way.
