Usileth and Whitlock had just arrived in Vallance Keep as the town was under siege. Flying crypt scarabs had been smashing at the wall while massive spider like crypt fiends poured into the town's main gate. Without hesitation Usileth and Whitlock sprinted to the gate.
As they reached the main gate Whitlock thrust his mighty broad sword into the head of a scarab. Usileth had turned into her cat form and was ripping away at the carapace of a crypt Lord when Whitlock rushed over and raised his hand to the sky calling down a pillar of holy light from the sky to burn the crypt Lord. As the petrified remains disintegrated into the howling wind more soldiers came rushing out from the keep climbing the scaffolding with rifles in hand blasting away at the flying enemys.
Footsoldiers rushed out onto the battle field once the cannons stopped their barrage to reload. Whitlock and Usileth walked out behind them but something caught Usileths eye. A tall figure sitting atop a horse that appeared as if it was dead. At that moment the wind howled loudly and the cloak that was attached to the figure blew away and Usileth saw the figure had a sword out and when he raised it more of these undead scarabs came rushing down into the beach valley and rose from the dead bodies that were scattered on the beach.
But Usileth couldn't look away as something else caught her eye, this figure had horns sticking out of its helmet and one looked as if it was shorter then the other. Then something flashed back in Usileths mind as she thought about her training days at Hyjal and her fellow apprentice. "Karn..." she mumbled. But Whitlock saved her from getting slashed by a scarab. "Usileth what the hell are you doing!?" Whitlock shouted at her.
"Up there on that hill" Usileth said while pointing to the figure ontop of the hill overlooking the battle. "He must be controlling these beast!" Whitlock said. He quickly rushed towards the slope that lead to the hilltop and Usileth followed behind him. Praying to Elune for her blessings.
As they approached the hilltop the figure had dismounted from his deathcharger and had summoned four ghouls to his side. "You monster! You'll pay for this!!" Whitlock shouted as he charged at the ghouls and started slicing and thrusting at them. Usileth and the mysterious figure were just staring at eachother without saying a word. 'It can't be..' she thought to herself.
'I.. Feel something... For this one..' the figure thought to himself. But those thoughts quickly left his head as he exhaled a long spine chilling breath, to Usileth it looked as if the air exiting his mouth was frozen. He raised his rune blade and summoned two more ghouls from the ground behind him and he mounted his deathcharger. Usileth just watched as the figure waved his hand in front of him and a dark portal opened before him and he strode through.
Whitlock had just finished off the last two ghouls when he looked around and saw the figure gone. He sheathed his sword and walked over to Usileth who was just standing there looking at the ground. "Did you know that thing?" Whitlock asked as he glared at Usileth. The word 'thing' stung Usileth straight to the bone but she just shook her head. "No, I don't know who or what that thing was" atleast she hoped she didn't.
Whitlock just scoffed and walked off towards the beach pit, the battle still raging on down below. Usileth soon followed behind but took one last glance back as if she could still see him.
Later that night the tide undead seemed to slow so the wounded and injured were able to leave the beach. Usileth and Whitlock Sat at the counter of the inn and were drinking their problems away. Whitlock took the occasional glance at Usileth and finally spoke, "Look I'm sorry about earlier today" he said as he took another sip of his drink. "It's ok, I should have been more focused." She replied.
Usileth excused herself and left a tip on the counter for the drink and she walked up stairs to her rented room. After she was in her room she sat on the bed and pulled out a locket that had a panting inside of her and her former lover and best friend Karn. She looked at the fine detail of the painting and tried to examine Karn more closely but just as she got close enough to see his horns the door to her room creaked open and she quickly hid her pendent in her robes.
"Are you still up?" The voice asked from behind the door. Usileth knew it was Whitlock and the last thing she needed was him in her room but she couldn't stop herself from speaking. "Yes I'm up, what do you want?" She said almost bitterly. Whitlock walked in and Sat on the bed across from her. "I just wanted to see how you were doing, you barely finished your drink and.." Whitlock trailed off when he saw Usileth wasn't paying attention.
He looked down and saw her hands clenched tightly and he slowly began to reach for them. When his fingers touched hers she pulled back ever so sightly but then she let him grab her hands and hold them. Whitlock looked up and Usileth looked up at him. Then their lips met and then they just held eachother there. But then Usileth pulled Whitlock ontop of her and they spent the night in eachothers company. But ever so quietly Usileth whispered his name, 'Karn...'
The death knights eyes flashed open as he heard a whisper upon the wind and then he clenched at his chest but quickly dropped his hand as he knelt before the Lich King. "You will go to Utgarde keep and speak with the forge master and he will grant you your new armor." The Lich King said to Karn and with that he descended from the frozen spires of ice crown citadel.
He mounted his deathcharger and charged off towards the Howling Fjord.
