What once was (A World of Warcraft fanfiction)

The lion among the lambs pt. 1

As Usileth woke up she tried to move her arms but she had been chained up. She looked around to see if there was anything that could get her down but she could barely see in the dimmly lit cave. But out of the corner of her eye she saw a massive creature in the corner, it was a magnataur. She had never seen one of these creatures up close before, it was an amazing sight.

But the feeling quickly vanished when she saw the creature cleaning the meat off of a massive skeleton. She once again looked around for a way to escape but in her struggling she knocked over a stack of bones alerting the creature that she was awake. He reached for his spear and prepared to slay Usileth. But just before the spear fell the creature stopped when a loud howling noise was heard at the mouth of the cave. The magnataur went to investigate but as he reached the mouth of the cave a massive gust of frozen air blasted into the cave and blew out the massive fire and forced Usileth to close her eyes.

When she could see again she saw the massive beast frozen in place. Then a tall dark figure entered the cave and Usileths blood ran cold. Karn quickly approached Usileth and with one massive swing of his sword cut her down from her bindings. He put a hand out towards her and almost instinctively Usileth reached for it, but then she said a spell and blasted a massive beam of light into the cave blinding Karn. She quickly dashed out of the cave and to her surprise she saw the entire camp that this magnataur had built completely frozen with broken statues and piles of icy remains laying about.

She quickly ran away again as she heard Karn coming up behind her. "Wait!" Karn said in a frigid voice. But Usileth kept telling herself that this was not the same man she had fallen in love with. She ran up a steep incline and once she reached the top she saw a passing guard detachment of Vallance Keep. She waved them down but as they drew closer Karn had reached the top of the slope. They drew their swords and and rifles but this isn't what Usileth wanted. Karn could feel this so he dropped his weapon and held his arms up. "I surrender" his frigidly deep voice shook them all to their core.

The soldiers tried to put cuffs on him but they didn't fit, so they tied two horse shoes together and they all left.

Once back in Vallance Keep they locked Karn in the basement dungeon and Usileth stood at the top of the stairs as the head jailor tried to get him to talk. But Karn continued to say that he would only speak to Usileth. Usileth raised a hand to her mouth and tried to fight back the teers, but a few escaped. Then the head jailor came up to her, "He'll only speak with you elf" he said. Usileth smiled faintly then proceed down the stairs to where they were keeping Karn.

As soon as Usileth entered the room his eyes lit up and he tried to stand but stopped when he saw the look in her eyes. It looked empty and distant. "Why did you save me?" She asked sternly. "I.... Don't know.." Karn replied looking down. "Don't lie to me!!" Usileth yelled. "I just felt that you were in trouble so I came to rescue you." Karn said, Usileth could see his eyes drop down. She sighed and Sat back down in her chair. "I'm sorry..."Karn said. "For what?" Usileth said, "everything." Karn replied

Usileth didn't know what to say. She wanted to hate him but she knew she still loved him. She rose from her seat and walked over to Karn. With teers in her eyes she wrapped her arms around him and hugged him so hard that Karn could feel something warm again, then he felt it. Her heartbeat.

Karn smiled and Usileth pulled back. "Now what?" She asked teary eyed. "I leave so you don't get into trouble." Karn said, this confused Usileth but Karn was already standing up and shattering the chains that were suppose to hold him in. Usileth tried to stop Karn but he picked her up, kissed her and then locked her into an empty cell, the wind outside began to howl and bellow and Usileth swore she felt the keep shift under its pressure. Karn smiled and walked up stairs and Usileth could hear the wind dying down as time ticked away. She sat in the corner of her cell smiling and crying to herself. Karn was back. And she knew she loved him.
