Pronounced Dead Ch3
Nelly felt the sharp edge of a blade run across her neck. She opened her eyes to find Vlad hovering over her, his lips curled in a smile. Nelly was hyperventilating. Her heart fluttered in her chest. Confusion, and tangled emotions ran through her. Sure Nelly was glad Vlad was alive, but she also knew he would kill her.
Nelly wasn't even sure it was Vlad. The intruders face was concealed by the shadows or darkness. Only part of his face was shown.
"Vlad is that you?" Nelly asked stupidly.
"Well who else do you think it is?" The boy said.
"But-"
"True love will fight through everything, even escaping the narrow breech of death"
"This isn't love!"
Vlad stroked her hair. He looked at each strand, mesmerized. He managed to get close enough that Nelly could feel his cool breath on her skin. He leaned down and gently kissed her on her forehead.
"I'll come back", he whispered as he left the room, his soft footsteps growing dimmer...

The sun steamed through Nelly's window. She lay on her side wondering if it all had been a dream.
Just a dream...
Yet, it felt so real to her.
A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. In stepped the man who had saved her life.
"Hey", Storm said with a smile.
"Hello, um what are you doing here?" Nelly asked a bit suspiciously.
"Well, this was the first time you've been awake enough for me to talk to you."
"Oh, um... Thank you, for saving my life"
Storm, came closer pulling himself a seat besides Nelly. His warm brown eyes smiled at her. The warmth was replaced with sympathy.
"Nelly, I know this might sound a little bit insensitive but, I need to ask you a couple of questions."
"Sure", Nelly replied. She was thankful, because she had no idea what she would talk to Storm about.
"Okay, When we arrived you were in the passenger seat, your ribs were broken, so I don't think you would move. Was anyone with you?"
Nelly paused, careful to answer the question as truthfully as she could.
"Yes, my boyfriend Vlad." She paused and added, "Did you find him?"
Storm looked at Nelly with sympathy.
"Well, we didn't find a body, but we did notice the door was open, I'm sorry but there is a possibility he rolled down the hill. We are still searching for him, but nothing has come up yet."
Nelly felt relieved. Maybe it had been a dream...
Still she couldn't suppress the sadness. Tears rolled down her cheeks, wetting the hospital gown she wore.
"It's okay", Storm said attentively.
Nelly didn't respond.
"If you don't think you're ready to talk, I'll come back later, bring something good to eat? Maybe some sushi?"
"I...would like that."
"Okay I'll see you later", Storm said with a smile. He stood up and walked to the hospital door.
"One more thing Nelly, smile, everything will get better."
Nelly lay her head on her pillow, trying to forget everything. She was confused, everything was just so surreal, she thought.
She closed her eyes in an attempt to forget.

"Did you talk to her?" James asked his partner Storm.
"Yes, before you ask no she didn't give me any information." Storm said with irritation.
"Weren't you able to pull off you charm?"
"Very funny, but she did seem affected by that monster." Even Storm himself was puzzled. He had followed Nelly and Vlad, he witnessed her abduction. Yet, even after all that Nelly seemed concerned about that monster.
"Don't worry we will find him. Nelly won't know what hit her when we do."
"See, that's the problem. She's been through a lot." James replied, studying his partner for any signs of compassion.
"Don't feel sympathy it will ruin the whole plan."
"Don't you think I don't know?"
"Oh, please don't brag, I know you've been in this business for a long time."
"You better respect that"
"Whatever did she at least seem interested?"
"No, but she will...soon." Storm said, as he smiled to himself.
Storm and James walked to their 'ambulance'. Casually talking, careful not to arise any suspicion.
