Pronounced Dead Ch2

Nelly awoke. Her side burned, and she could feel blood trickling on her face, the rusty smell overpowered her senses.

She opened her eyes, vision blurry. The colors rearranging themselves forming objects she could distinguish. A tree was sprawled over the window, branches breaking through the glass.

She rolled to her side and wondered if Vlad was okay. I can't believe I'm actually worrying about him, she silently thought. Her gaze traveled to the seat beside her. A couple of splatters of blood on the seat but no body! She panicked.

Nelly looked around, looking for anything that could help her cut through the rope that was binding her. Beside her seat and scattered all over the ground were pieces of glass from the window. Some were beside her seat. She inched her body closer and carefully winded her fingers around a chard lying next to her. Her fingers stung, giving her a hard time to grip the glass. Slowly she tucked the piece inside her wrist and began cutting through the intertwining strings. It was a difficult job, Nelly couldn't

see properly causing her to misplace the sharp edges and cut herself accidentally.

It seemed to take hours but she was finally able to rid herself of the rope. Next she leaned over and worked on the ropes tying her legs. Her side was burning in pain. With each movement she made, she had to stop herself from yelping in pain. After several minutes she was able to rid herself of the ropes. She lay back on her seat, careful not to make any movements.

Nelly fiddled with the lock. She pushed the card door, but it was stuck. Taking a look outside of the window for the first time she found that she was stuck on a hill. The car teetering. A slight movement could cause the car to slip into an abyss.

"Great", she muttered to herself.

Suddenly, Nelly heard the crunch of leaves. Her heart picked up its pace.

What if it was Vlad? What would he do?

Stop, this time you are going to fight, no matter how much you care, you can't stop fighting, she said to herself.

The crunch grew louder.

"Is anyone there?" A loud voice said, shaking Nelly.

"Y-Yes", Nelly said, her voice barely above a whisper. Her body trembled towards an unknown fear.

You're being rescued, they won't hear you! Nelly's mind kept repeating.

"Is anyone there?" The same voice yelled.

"Yes!" This time Nelly screamed with every ounce of strength she had.

"James we have someone!" Nelly heard the voice yell.

The crunch of the leaves grew louder, with each sound Nelly grew hopeful.

A figure approached the window. She saw a man wearing a uniform, clean and pressed. He had light brown hair, and dark brown eyes.

"It's okay. What's your name?" The man asked.

"Nelly Grace."

"Does anything hurt?" The young man asked.

"M-My side." Nelly replied

"Can you move?"

"No", Nelly said. His eyes were a mixture of fear and concern.

"James, we have a injured person, she might have her ribs broken!", The man yelled.

"Okay. We are going to need you to stay calm. Don't move much because any sudden movement might cause this car to go downhill. Understand?"

"Yes. Thank you...What's your name?"

"Storm... I know strange name, but it's mine." Storm, said proudly.

"Nelly, I need you to move as far left as you possibly can. Okay."

Nelly moved her body left, making sure to ignore the pain as much as she could. She used her arms to push herself left as much as she could possibly go.

Another man approached storm. He was tall, blond hair growing on top of his head. Nelly couldn't exactly see him very well. She figured it was James.

James held something in his hand. Nelly heard noise, like wind hitting a solid object.

Then with the help of Storm, James was able to pull the door of its hinges.

Storm approached Nelly.

"I'm going to have to carry you. We have a stretcher ready for you."

Carefully Storm wrapped his hands around Nelly, pulling her out. Nelly stifled a yelp, she didn't want to worry Storm, more than he already seamed.

Storm brought her up the hill. Placing her in the stretcher, both James and Storm pulled the stretcher up to the awaiting ambulance.

Nelly's vision clouded, but not before she saw a figure among the wreck, watching her.

***

Lmao! Is it a figure of her imagination? An escaped convict from a nearby jail, who is on the prowl? Or Vlad?

Long, but I think she needed to be rescued...

Instead of getting run over by a car...

:D

I'll shut up now! :D
