Pronounced Dead Ch5
Nelly raised her head from the passenger seat of the ambulance. Since the hospital had burned to the ground the ashes probably flying to their own tune in the wind. She turned to storm feeling a strong sense of déjà vu.
"You awake?"
Nelly blushed; it seemed that every time Storm either rescued her or came to visit her she would be unconscious.
"Yeah-"she fiddled around with her seatbelt.
"Where are we going?" She asked finally aware of the circumstances. She was sure that the medical team in the hospital wouldn't have allowed Storm to take her out of the premises even if it had burned down.
"To another hospital", Storm said with a tone that said well-duh.
"What about all the other patients?"
"Some of them- well, they are gone and the rest are being transported. You're lucky you know."
"Not really", she responded.
"Nelly don't be so negative, you're alive aren't you?"
Nelly didn't want to hear the conversation; yes she was lucky, but not so much.
"Storm I don't know much about you", Nelly blurted. Deep behind her brain there was a burning curiosity of the figure next to her. She barley knew him yet it seemed he was always rescuing her.
"Well I don't know much about you either", he simply replied. He already knew enough information about her.
"What's you favorite food?" She asked.
Storm looked at her funny.
"When I don't know what to say I just ask that question", Nelly replied.
"Okay I like Buffalo Wings"
"Favorite sport?"
"Hockey"
"Where did you grow up?"
"Sunny California, were the weather is unpredictable."
Nelly nodded knowing to well what the climate was.
"Any siblings?"
"No, at least I don't think I do."
She laughed.
"Now it's my turn. What's your favorite location", he declared.
"My bed, I'm a very lazy person."
"I kind of guessed that", he said. Nelly blushed deep crimson.
"Next question."
"Any family?"
"No my parents died a couple of years ago, and I have no brothers or sisters. It's just me really", she said sincerely.
"If you don't mind, how did they die?" Storm asked, testing how much Nelly trusted him.
"Car accident", she whispered.
Deep inside she was terrified of any cars, it had taken a couple of months for her friends to get her through the door. Nelly knew it was silly but, she was terrified. The car accident with Vlad hadn't helped her fear. Then everything was echoing in her ears, the forgotten memories. She tried so hard to forget.
"I'm sorry", Storm replied. He felt sympathy towards her, something he shouldn't have allowed himself to do.
"I'm okay, next question", she said avoiding his gaze. Maybe the questions had been a bad idea.
"Favorite ice cream?"
"Rainbow swirl!"

When they finally arrived at the hospital, Nelly felt a chill run through her spine. Everything was crisp and white, it felt funny. It had been the same in the other hospital but in here it felt strange.
"Well, according to the records in the other hospital you were to be released, given the circumstances you are going to need a check up if everything goes well then you can go back home."
Nelly didn't know were home was.
Storm was leaving he almost reached the door when Nelly yelled at him to stop.
"I-"
Storm grabbed one of Nelly's arms; he grabbed a pen from his pocket and scribbled his phone number.
"If you ever need me, just give me a call", he said smiling at her.
She nodded and headed off to the front office.
