A/N This is pretty much my first story. :D I am editing most chapters but it's completely fine if you read this because i'm not changing anything about the plot and stuff. Just, correcting spelling mistakes and such. ENJOY~!
Chapter 1: Gateway To Hell
Shiori's P.O.V.
The repetitive sounds of the doorbell ringing caused me to jump up from my bed. I walked up to the wooden door and looked through the oval window on it. Azuki.
I opened the door and tensed when the look on her face wasn't what she normally would have. What happened to her?
"Azu-"
"I'm going to get straight to the point."
I stood there, slowly nodding, wondering if she had too much coffee this morning.
She barged inside without warning and I shut the door quickly, slightly alarmed by the loud slam.
"Sit down."
I decided to obey and sat down, in case this was really something serious.
"I'm sorry... I wanted to tell you, but I couldn't."
"You're pregnant?" I asked.
She glared, shoving me slightly. "I'm not pregnant."
"Rather, it may be more surprising than that."
"Oh, no, I wouldn't be surprised if you were pregnant."
"Shiori!"
"Sorry, sorry," I giggled lightly.
"Just, please take this seriously."
"Sure, spit it out."
She fiddled with her fingers, remotely tense, and took a deep breath. I started to get more curious by the second.
"I'm a detective," she asserted.
I blinked quickly, staring at her. A detective?
"I'll believe that in a few million years."
She sighed and shook her head, "I'm not joking, Shiori."
"You're only trying to get a reaction out of me. You always tease me like that." I protested, slightly taken aback.
She shifted around, clearly uncomfortable.
"Here's proof." She took out an authorization card and handed it over to me. It read, 'A.H.Q Headquarters Apprentice Detective. ~Azuki'
What...?
Did she really hide this from me? For that long? I almost didn't see her as the same person, in disbelief, feeling a slight tinge of hurt in my chest.
She seemed to have not noticed my state, and tightened her ponytail, before continuing, "The reason I'm actually telling you this is because you need to become one too."
I frowned and got up. "Since when did I need to become one?! You hid this from me! Something so... important," I snapped.
Azuki sighed. "I'm really sorry, I really am. I couldn't tell you."
"Whatever. I can't do all that detective stuff. Like using walkie-talkies, and writing in notepads. You're absolutely insane for thinking I'd agree."
She burst out laughing.
"What?!" I clenched my fists, clearly irritated with her.
"You don't know a thing about detectives, do you?"
I glowered at her, "I don't know! It doesn't change the fact that this is ridiculous!"
"Well, lucky you. You won't be doing any of that, but that doesn't mean your mission will be easy."
Why is she still trying?
"You'll be spying on someone."
So now she wants me to stalk someone? Great.
She rolled her eyes, noticing my expression, "Look, Shiori. I had to hide this from you for a reason. NO one must know of the detective agency, A.H.Q (Ability Head Quarters) And if you refuse to cooperate, you'll be killed."
My heart pace quickened, eyes widening. How could she say that so easily?
"Killed? You wouldn't let that happen to me, would you...?"
She looked down, "I can't control what they do. They would never listen to me. I'm just a noobie detective."
I dropped down on the bed and felt my throat dry. "Just-Just tell me who I'm spying on."
"A man. I think his name was Usui."
A... man? I don't ever want to get close to a man again after the incident I had last year. One of my classmates glued my butt to my chair and all the guys were laughing at me. After that day, I've convinced myself that all men are despicable.
"Why?!"
"You'll find out when we get to the A.H.Q," she thumped the back of my head, "And stop freaking out. He's just a boy."
I rubbed my head, pursing my lips.
This is the part in movies where the person says "I'm in!" like they totally believe in themselves. Yeah, that's not me.
I groaned, "Why me?"
"Please~?" She begged in an annoying high-pitched voice.
I took a deep, shaky breath. I don't know how I deal with her. She has been saying 'please?' 'I beg of you,' and 'Shiori!' for the past 10 minutes.
I stood up and shouted, "Stop, you'll make me go crazy before I even say yes!"
"So you're in?" she smirked.
It can't be that bad, right?
"Fine, I guess," I muttered.
No. What are you doing Shiori?!
I'm pretty sure this is a better choice than getting killed, idiot!
You'll regret this!
Obviously, but I'd rather not die, genius.
She grinned, "Come with me,"
I exasperatedly sighed.
This is gonna be tough.
But I'll give it my all.
Whatever I'm in for.
A/N
It gets better. The plot, at least. I edited this. It used to be even worse than it is now. ;-; (I KNOW. SHOCKING.)

Detective Shiori
RomanceIt wasn't too shocking when my best friend Azuki told me about a secret agency she'd been in. She always disappeared most days after school. I began to question it, but all she'd say was 'errands.' I knew that wasn't the case. But, when she tells me...
