Chapter 2

Shiori's P.O.V

"This is it," Azuki sighed, "The Ability Head Quarters. Also known as A.H.Q."

It's huge.

"Come in!" a bubbly voice exclaimed.

Azuki opened the large gate, trying not to crush herself because of the heavy weight. I decided to assist her, still slightly upset at her. It's strange how I can't be angry at her for that long. Well, it's not like she wanted me to do something like this. I have to, or I'll die apparently. I don't understand why I'm here. There has to be an actual reason. Why is she a detective anyway?

A middle-aged man sat comfortably on a large couch, with a welcoming smile.

"My name is Shiori Yukino," I mumbled and looked around. There were many electronics. I gazed in awe.

"Ah, Shiori! Azuki told me much about you. Please, take a seat," An unfamiliar man insisted.

I reluctantly sat on the other couch single-man couch next to him. These are really cozy.

"So, Shiori. Tell me a little about yourself," he rubbed his hands together.

I raised a brow, but decided it'd be best to just give in. I don't want the chance of dying.

"I go to the same school as Azuki. Well, I'm here to spy or something?"

You act like you want to do this.

Are you nuts? I'm trying not to get killed here.

Just make a run for it.

Be quiet.

"I see," he chuckled, "I knew that already. But, you're here for the Kyuuketski Project."

Ky-Kyuuketski? [means vampire in Japanese]

"
Am I, now?" I choked. Why am I here for something called 'Vampire Project?' I wish I just made a run for it.

He sighed and looked at Azuki. She nodded like they're having some mental conversation.

"Shiori, please don't freak out when he tells you this," Azuki put her hand behind her neck.

"I don't know whether to freak out or not if he's not even telling me," I stated coldly.

"Alright, alright.. I'll explain from the beginning."

"A few weeks ago, a girl named Hanaka Yoshida was walking home from her 'after-school' club and it was heard that she dropped to the floor when a suspicious-looking man pinned her down. A few people saw this and said he opened his mouth and put his fangs inside of her neck. Our Head Quarters decided to do some research on his identity, and we found his name was Yamato Ushino. It said he worked in this group called "Silver Pheonix", Tamaki, my son, did some more research on it and hacked into their website. Well..Apparently, it was a vampire pack. Meaning, they have a leader. And, his name is Usui. We want you to spy on him and get as much information as possible, i'll give you a paper on where he will be going during the days, you MUST stop him if he does anything suspicious"

This whole organization is insane.

This is a joke, isn't it? They expect me to take this all in in just a few seconds?

"You guys asked me to spy on a leader of a vampire pack," I laughed.

"
We didn't do it for nothing, you are very powerful and intelligent. Shiori you must take every word we are saying seriously. We are a secret organization, we don't lie."

My eyes widened. They're serious?

"I-I'm not.. I can't. I'm a random girl you picked up, why are you expecting me to do this?! Don't you have other detectives? How about Azuki? Anyone?!"

What have I gotten myself into...?

You should've taken a trip to China and lived there for the rest of your life.

You could've told me!

I didn't think you were that stupid...

Ugh!

"You have to if you value your life." I felt the atmosphere in the room change. He's serious...

He sighed, "Look Shiori, I'll explain everything la-"

"No! This isn't actually happening right? This has to be a joke. Why would me, some random girl with no actual talents, be asked to spy on a vampire?  Do those even exist?! And then you say if I don't give in, I'll be killed?! I'm calling the police." I looked around for a phone. There's no many electronics, yet not one phone.

Azuki intruded, "Shiori, don't do something so-"

"Explain this to me! Why?!" I felt like crying. This is real.

Azuki looked at me in pity and he seemed to notice, "F-Fine.."

"...Four people in this world in this world are born with a chip in their body. We talk to the doctors and tell them to always perform an x-ray so we see if they have a chip. It's hidden from their parents because we don't want them to freak out and we take the chip out with a machine that teleports the chip outside. But, the data is very important so we have to get the chips information to see something."

"That doesn't explain anything except that scientists are insane. Why are you telling me this?"

"I know it's too much to take in but... you have to believe me, i'm trying."

"If you were trying, you'd answer my actual questions!" I spat.

"Look, what I'm saying is, you are one of the four people who was born with a chip inside of them."

My eyes widened, "Wait...What?"

"That's why you're the one who can do this project, or mission, whatever you'd like to call it. You're stronger than most of the people with the chips. We're facing the Vampire Lord. We need you, Shiori."

"I'm so sorry, Shiori..." Azuki murmured.

"I'll go get the chip," he nodded and left.

I started to slightly shake. I was afraid.

But it didn't really matter anymore.

I have to do this whether I want to or not now. I'm just going to give in. It's not like I can do anything else anyway...
