Third person POV
As the gang arrived at the biggest superhero convention of the year, Matthew and Kris drove away from their problems. So where are they now???
Kris Tamilla POV
I shouldn't have done it. I knew I shouldn't have drove away.
There was a guilt tugging away at me. Nobody deserves to be left in a crowd in the deep south. I wouldn't bestow that fate on my worst enemy.
Compulsion, is all I have to say. Adrenaline, excitement... scared...
Matt was like a madman.
He felt like a victim
...he acted out of fear. Fear of a worse life, fear of getting in trouble. Fear that he wouldn't be loved.
The ride to St Louis was miserable.
I tried to make conversation, but he would just stare out the window, a look of anger on his face. But there was something in the corner of his eye.
My sixth sense from yoga gave me an aura of shame. An aura that believed he was D-Class.
And that's why I turned my car around, just when the arches came in sight.
I would teach him the gentle way. The flow. The thing that people in modern day would call 'Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.'
"Hey, where are we going." Matt grumbled, speaking for the first time since we left Alabama.
"Matthew, I'm taking you to Tampa Florida. You are going to change yourself."
"What, to some drunken who lives in Ybor City?"
"No, my child... You will learn the art of Jiu Jitsu."
"Oh yeah, that bullshit that hipsters always say is cool."
"And you see, because you have said that, you must do so."
"Whatever Mom."
"Matt, Matthew, Matthew Henry Clifton Korloch."
"How did you know my full name?"
"Sixth sense. But seriously. Do you not understand that I am here to help you? Do you want to keep running away from your problems? Do you know what that leads to?"
"Sadness, yeah I know."
"Matt if you knew anything about it you would listen to me."
"I don't have to listen to you, your not even older than me."
"Wiser, not older."
"Shut up I'm plenty wise."
"If you were you'd be able to acknowledge that your an immature scared pussy."
"Am not."
"Exactly my point."
"No. I'm not dealing with your shit today. Let me out of the god damn car."
"Run away, pussy."
I slowed down the car,and parked it on the side of the interstate. I was glad that he'd be gone. But he wouldn't be.
"Out now. Here's the address of the house I bought the gang."
"What gang."
"Alright get out."
"Yeah I'll see you bitches in hell."
"At least I won't see you now."
"You can go fu-" BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM ¡!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!!!!!!!¡
Both of us glanced back towards the city, forgetting any of the dialogue we had previously had.
Then we saw it.
The St. Louis arch, engulfed in flames...
