"Call mom."
"Calling mom." My mirror responded.
I looked in the corner of the mirror and saw the pictures of me and Marco on the day of our non-date. I think about the way he taught me to roller skate. 'Glide and knee, glide and knee...'
"Star?"
"Hi, mother."
"What happened? You seem pale."
"My ex happened."
"Tom? How did he end up at Earth?"
I told her about the party, and how Pony Head betrayed me and how Tom technically abused me. My cheek still was red and swollen.
"Mother?"
"Yes, Star?"
"I want to go back to Mewni."
"What? Star, I thought you were happy on Earth!"
"No, not anymore."
"Star, Tom doesn't live on Earth."
"It's not just Tom."
"Than what is it?"
I let out a sigh. It hurt so much to say this.
"It's Marco."
"Marco? It that the boy you live with?"
"Yeah."
"Star, there has to be a good explanation to this."
"And there is! I jus-"
"Explain."
I thought for a second.
"I am not ready to be queen. We both know that. Earth is only helping me prove my point. If I go back to Mewni, I can learn to be queen."
"What does this have to do with Marco?"
"Don't you get it? He's a distraction!"
"Distraction? Wait, please tell me you don't mean that he's-"
"Yeah. I just need to leave. Please, mother."
"Fine. I will send a carriage to Earth tomorrow morning."
"Thank you, mother."
"Star, are you crying?"
I wiped my tears and looked down to avoid eye contact.
"No. no, I'm not."
"Ok. Be ready tomorrow. Don't be late."
She hung up. I stood there looking in my magic mirror. Marco was standing behind me.
"You are going back?" He said, cracking his voice on the last word.
"It's for the better."
"No, Star you can't do this."
"Watch me." I said turning around, leaving him in my room.
I grabbed my suitcase from the basement. I heard footsteps coming from the stairs.
"Marco I really don't want to talk to you right now."
"Marco isn't here anymore." A manly voice chuckled.
"Wha.." I turned around and saw a huge bag heading towards me.
"Let me out!"
The man didn't respond. I could tell we were outside, it was chilly and he must have stepped on leaves. I screamed for help. Then I heard the house door open.
"Hey! Let her go!" Marco yelled.
The man still didn't respond. Instead, he dropped me, then must have zapped Marco, I heard him whimper. I tried setting myself free, but the bag was tied.
"Marco!" I yelled.
"Star, I'm sorry." I could tell he was in pain.
The man threw me, and the setting changed. It was warm, and we were inside. The man opened the bag and threw me on the floor. I let out a groan, everything hurt. I turned around and saw the man, who really wasn't a man at all, standing before me.
"Hello, princess."
"What do you want, Ludo?"
"You."
"Ok, that's not weird in any way."
"You are going to show me how to use magic." He said, tossing me my wand.
"Ok. NARWAL BLAST!" I pointed my wand to him. He fell back. I took my dimensional scissors and went back to earth. Marco was still in the driveway, on the ground.
"Marco! Are you ok?" I helped him up.
"Yeah, thanks to you." He said smiling.
(See what I did there?)
I smiled back. We stood there for a moment.
"I should go pack." I said, trying not to look sad. Marco sighed. I turned away.
Once I was done packing, I looked around and saw my empty room.
"Star?" Janna said walking in my room.
"Hey." I sighed.
"What are you doing? You're not moving out, are you?"
"Yeah. I'm going back to Mewni." This time I looked at her.
"Woah! What happened?" She pointed at my cheek. "Did Marco do this?"
"No, my ex did."
"What a jerk!"
"Yeah, Tom doesn't really take no for an answer."
"So, you're going back? I thought you loved Earth!"
"My parents sent me to Earth to become more mature, and handle things on my own. I love Earth, but not who it's making me."
"But you're Star Butterfly! The coolest girl I know!"
"No, Janna, that's not what I mean. I am not helping myself get away from problems, I'm creating them. A freak like me doesn't belong here."
"You're not a freak!"
"Isn't that what everyone says about me? I heard it, Janna. Jackie even said it to my face."
"That's because she's a freak. Look at her! She can't keep one boyfriend for an hour! She's just jealous of how awesome you are."
"Thanks, Janna. But I'm going to be Queen Star of Mewni. If I keep creating problems on Earth, imagine what I could do on Mewni. I need to keep training on Mewni. It's what's best. Thanks for being awesome Janna. I'll miss you."
"I'll miss you too. Hey, this isn't about Marco, is it?"
I froze. Shoot! She can't know how I feel about him!
"Star?"
"What? Marco? Psh! No! He's like... I don't... we're just..."
She raised an eyebrow and smirked.
"You're just what?"
"We're just friends." I said quickly. My face was flushing.
"You don't want to be more than friends, do you?"
I sighed.
"It's best we keep our relationship at 'just friends'."
"Star! You like him! You can't leave!"
"Yes I can, Janna. I have to, now."
"UGH! Star! You and Marco are soulmates!"
"I don't want to talk about this, Janna."
"Whatever. I have to go. We'll video chat?"
"I'd like that. Bye, Janna." We hugged.
She walked out of my room. I'll miss summoning ghosts with her."Star? Wake up." Benson was in front of me.
"Benson? Oh, crap I forgot to set my alarm! Sorry!"
I shot out of bed. I had to look decent for my return. I put that pink dress I wore for the Blood Moon Ball. Reminded me of Marco. I brushed my hair and put it up like I did on that same day. I grabbed my suitcase and left my room. It hurt to close the door.
"Ready, princess?"
"Uh, yeah." I have my suitcase, wand, and spell book. I'm all good.
"Any last goodbyes?"
I can't face Marco. I would just jump right back here and never leave.
"No."
"Ok!"
We headed for the carriage. Benson cut a hole to Mewni, and we passed through it. I saw the castle and we stopped. The door opened.
"After you, m'lady." Benson stuck his hand out. I held it as I tumbled off the carriage. He grabbed my stuff as I walked into the castle. Many gasps and whispers filled through the ceremony room. I walked down the isle. My mother slightly smiled as she saw me. As I stepped up next to her she announced;
"The princess has returned!"
The people cheered. I waved. I hoped to see Marco in the audience, but I knew I wouldn't.
