I rushed out of the room
because I heard Eliza screaming,
when I got out there,
she was grabbing her keys,
and opening a drawer,
to see her pull out a pistol
and shove it into her waistband.
She turned to see me
"Meredith
and the children need help.
Stay here
and keep your phone on,
I'm going to get them."
I grabbed her shoulders
to stop her from leaving,
"What the hell is going on?"
She turned
so that I could see
the flame in her eyes
that could have cooked anything
within seconds.
"Meredith called
and said she needed help,
then there was yelling and screaming
and a gunshot
and it sounded like
she was attacked
because the line cut dead.
I need to go help her,
I made a promise to her
a long time ago
that I would come
when she called.
Now let me go."
She said
wriggling out of my holding.
"How about,
why do you have a gun?
And
how is it legal?"
She was halfway out the door
and yelled over her shoulder,
"I'll explain later."
But,
there was one thing I knew
that was for sure,
she wasn't going alone.
